Just explain that you weren’t sure if she should have the antibiotics before the procedure so wanted to check with the vet first.
brilliant thankyou, sorry i’m really really nervous and have 500 thoughts and questions going through my head!Just explain that you weren’t sure if she should have the antibiotics because the procedure so wanted to check with the vet first.
It’s completely understandable. Try to keep yourself busy and calm while the girls are at the vets today. It will be a long day for you.brilliant thankyou, sorry i’m really really nervous and have 500 thoughts and questions going through my head!
thankyou, hopefully they aren’t too stressed and have settled at the vets for the day, its being done after 12pm so will update you as i get information! wondering if i should get some critical care ordered or if the vet will stock it if needed? It’s completely understandable. thankyou, iv got everything crossed and have been praying all nightHope all goes well for little Della today @piggiemummy03x, she’s so beautiful
Definitely try and keep yourself busy as VickiA says, it can be such a worry when they’re in for an op (I’m terrible and a nervous wreck when mine are in for one!) but I’m sure she’s going to do great x
It’s always a good idea to get a bag yourself, however your vets should be able to provide you with a small supply to take home - it’s best to ask them for it “just in case”. It’s also a good idea to get a couple of pouches of purée fruit/veg such as Ella’s kitchen (check the ingredients to ensure they are ok for piggies - eg no grain or potatoes) as you can mix this into recovery foods to get her eating again. I usually buy the plain apples or plain pears or plain bananas but there are others with a mix of them that are also useful to have.thankyou, hopefully they aren’t too stressed and have settled at the vets for the day, its being done after 12pm so will update you as i get information! wondering if i should get some critical care ordered or if the vet will stock it if needed?
okay that’s brilliant, thankyou so much! are pellets okay for long term use or should i try to get critical care if i can? i don’t even know if she’ll be needing it, just want to be prepared! You can use mushed pellets if needed and if you don’t have/can’t get critical care. You may find she is eating perfectly well though.
You just need to cut the tapered end off of a 1ml syringe if you are going to use mushed pellets because they don’t quite go through the syringe as easily as critical care
fab thankyou, i definitely will get a bag if she needs it then, i just didn’t want to order if it didn’t need to be used incase it then went off before needing again (fingers crossed this will be never!) thanks so muchIt’s always a good idea to get a bag yourself, however your vets should be able to provide you with a small supply to take home - it’s best to ask them for it “just in case”. okay brilliant thankyou so much for the information, will definitely be getting some if she needs it and we will just have to do with pellets until it arrives.Critical care is better if a piggy isn’t eating as it has a higher fibre content. Pellets is the emergency alternative
I personally don’t keep critical care in stock myself because of its use by dates. If I have an emergency then I’d go for mushed pellets straight away and get the critical care at that point so I knew it would be in date - but I have a pet shop a five minute walk from my house plus Amazon prime so I can get hold of it pretty easily when needed
thankyou! we think its been flushed!Hope all has gone well with Della today!

thankyou! shes home eating her veggies now and will be keeping a close eye on her!Great news. Hope she bounces right back after her flush x
thanks! she is slightly bleeding and we have been told to phone up in the morning if this is still happening, if not we have an appointment tomorrow afternoon anyway just to check her over! All the best! Since it is not a real operation and there are no wounds, she should come round quickly.
PS: Please contact your vet asap if she starts to suddenly deteriorate in the coming two weeks.
so it wasn’t actually the hard stones you can get, it was like a build up where its formed together and the flush has broken it up and then she will hopefully wee it out herself.. if that makes any sense sorry just trying to remember what they said at the vets but my minds in overdrive!Brilliant news. She will feel much better now the stone is out. I hope she has a comfortable night tonight
Wonderful news!
