bladder stone in my 12 week old baby💔

What you don’t want is to leave too big of a gap because it will just let the cycle continue with more eggs. Do check it.
The two weeks between now and the next treatment will give the current eggs time to hatch. The second treatment in two weeks time will then kill the then mites (currently as eggs they will not be caught by todays treatment).

It’s old age - he is blind in one eye and going blind in the other, and has spinal arthritis (daily dog metacam for the rest of his life)

of corse, she did definitely say 4 weeks time, 2 if they are still itchy, so might just be best to do 2 weeks anyway and maybe just ask for another treatment if needed. fingers crossed we’ve managed to catch it fairly early on!

bless him, give him a big cuddle and fuss from me!

"Walking dandruff" is actually lice and not mites. I have had a piggy with this before, made me feel itchy just looking at it.
I'm not sure how experienced your vet is with guinea pigs, they may have referred to them as mites to try and keep things simple for you, who knows. I would definitely query that time frame for the next dose of xeno though

this is why i thought they where lice too after researching! my vet is an experienced exotic vet, i suppose either way the xeno will kill whatever it is so as long as there gone thats all that matters haha! but it would be nice to know for definite. as i’ve said, 2 weeks if still itchy, 3-4 if not, but i think ill keep to the 2 weeks to just be on the safe side!

I really would do it at two weeks.
As you say as long as they are gone! Hay mites are annoying but not the worst. Lice are blood sucking and can be very problematic. You really want to get on top of lice quickly.

so do again in two weeks and phone up vets for another lot to give 2 weeks after that? thanks for your help!

does anyone know if lice stay in wood? the whole hutch is obviously made from wood and we’ve got all wooden hides!

Yes, a really good clean with F10 will do it. Did you buy it as a concentrate? I used the wooden logs and have made a F10 solution in the kitchen sink with boiling water to soak the logs in a for a couple of hours to make sure it got in to all the gaps

yep bought the concentrate one! brilliant ill do that then, i didn’t want them to fall apart lol! i’ve got actual wooden houses too, do you think they’d be okay with just a spray as they definitely wouldn’t fit in the sink lol!

also blankets and fleecy things, normal 40 degree wash and normal non bio detergent or do i need something special for that too?

i should probably chuck out their cardboard tunnel and carrot house to be on the safe side too, or do you think these will be okay?

If she’s no longer having problems, you shouldn’t have to give her the cystease forever. However, if her symptoms return, you may need to evaluate. It certainly won’t cause her any harm if that’s the case
