I’m glad you have had her seen and got medication for her. I hope she feels better soon

There is no need to top up with water - just give the dose as it is. They usually like metacam.
I’ve got a rabbit on long term pain meds and he willingly accepts the syringe!
Hope it clears up soon.
My Ellen suffered from uti’s and was often on antibiotics for 4-6 weeks so 5 days really isn’t long at all so I suspect Della needs a longer course x
Ellen had IC but regularly had uti’s too. She would have blood in her urine and squeak in discomfort when she urinated. She was on sulfatrim which is the preferred antibiotics for uti’s although takes longer than baytril to clear it.
Sadly we lost Ellen in March 2020 as she could no longer fight her IC, was really poorly and my vet suspected she had a kidney stone.

Thank you xRIP Ellen
Best of luck to your girl! Someone in another post had suggested taking urine samples by placing the piggy in a plastic box, slightly lifted on one side so the pee flows backwards, feeding them cucumber till they go potty, and picking up the pee with a syringe. I did it and worked like a charm, only took a few minutes and helped the vet a lot. Do it as close to your visit as possible so it's fresh. Seeing those little guys in pain absolutely sucks.
Sorry, I'm not sure, but I'd guess keeping the area extra clean wouldn't hurt in case of an infection... I'd wait for more expert suggestions though.
You can safely give her a little bum bath with plain warm water
I don’t think many piggies enjoy a bum bath even if it does make them feel better
If I recall correctly sulfatrim is better for UTIs than baytril but sulfatrim is generally needed to be given for longer - a few weeks - so hopefully it’ll do the trick and she will be feeling better soon
are there other commen eye problems guinea pigs suffer from that it could be? i really hope its something small and doesn’t cause her too much pain, all the on top of her UTI i feel so bad for her okay thankyou thats eased my nerves a bit!Oh bless her, haypoke is a common injury. If it is haypoke, then getting prompt treatment makes all the difference.
Eyes don’t need an exotic vet at all, they are the same across all species so any general vet can deal with it
