Stripe and Chesney

Got the morning update from Stripe's tech; he's eating on his own and his weight is stable. His wound looks the same so he'll be on baytril and a cream when he comes home Monday, and he'll still need his cone.

Chez is doing pretty well without Stripe, but he's been a little more fearful of loud noises. He's also been spending more time under the fleece.

I just know he got that wound from the jagged timothy hut and I feel just awful I didn't think of it. So it is in the trash and I ordered a fleece hidey from Amazon that should arrive Monday.

I had a dream last night that my house was bigger than it really is, and in my religion (Islam) we believe some dreams are prophetic and according to Islamic scholars that dream means well being so it might seem silly to you, but it gives me hope for Stripe.

Here's an aerial view of Chez and his cucumber.

I hope your dream is prophetic- more space for piggies would be a gift.

That sounds like a wonderful dream to have. I'm glad to hear that Stripe is eating well. Yes, if the house isn't safe, best to dispose of it. The fleece hides are really nice and cosy!

Had a great talk with Stripe's tech last night. The wound is growing granular tissue which is part of the healing process. He hates his cone, she says, but wears it. He is eating and drinking and going to the bathroom. Weight has been stable since he got there.

She says tomorrow is a good time to pick him up. We will go over some wound care when I get there.

One positive is the doctor inspected Stripe's ears and has determined the ear infection has cleared up! I hope it is wise not to do the X-ray, his regular doctor wanted to do them but this doctor didn't.

I'm looking forward to Stripe coming home, I hope the wound care is easy.

Chez has been bar biting when I'm not in the room, I hope it stops when his bar buddy comes home tomorrow.

Chez is missing his brother, poor boy. Good news about the ear infection!

Stripe is home! Lots of wheeking from Chez and Stripe was looking at him from the bars. He got his cone off twice but I think I got it on good now. Stripe even begged for a treat! Then he dove in the hay. Chez is still wheeking and Stripe is trying to get his cone off.

Gonna clean Chez's cage soon and do his health check. He's just thrilled Stripe is back!

Hope he’s feeling better now
He won't keep his cone on but he's not obsessively licking or biting his scrotum. I'm hoping it stays that way. He has a new hidey and has been sleeping off the stress.

I have a cream to apply once a day. I'll be checking the wound several times a day and keeping it free from debris.

Thanks!

Great that your little boy is home. So sweet that Chez is so pleased to have Stripe home!

Stripe wouldn't keep on his cone, but I flipped him over to put on his cream and to me, his wound seemed the same. Hope I'm not missing anything. He goes down on it occasionally but only for a couple seconds. Praying it heals. Hopefully the SSD cream soothes it.

They said if he keeps bothering it I'll have to hospitalize him again, but he came home with irritated feet so I don't really want to. Plus it is $95 a day and I just spent 700.

He's currently at the hay pile, ignored his pepper and asked for a cookie instead.

Have homework but can keep an eye on him today.

Stripe's wound looks good this morning! Got his cream on and gave him a cookie for being patient. He seems to be leaving it alone. Recheck on the 14th. Rechecks are half the cost of an exam, so that is nice.

Thinking of giving him his puzzle today, maybe he'll be up for it.

Chez is his normal greedy self but he has his buddy back.

Praying for a speedy recovery for Stripe and many years of health for the boys.

My prayers were answered and the wound looked ok today. I worried about it in bed last night. It had looked a little red last night but looks better now.

Found out Chez does zoomies when I'm not in the room. Right before bed I heard a ruckus and got worried and opened up the door, Chez was zooming! Not sure why he was so happy.

Gotta go clean Chez's cage!

Hopefully the worst has passed 🤞
Yes, just got a call from his vet. The culture came back with results being some antibiotic resistant bacteria. We are going to see if the SSD cream heals it up or whether he'll need an injection. The problem is that the injection can cause kidney problems.

He has his recheck next Thursday.

Oh, I hope the infection clears up and Stripe heals nicely. Poor fellow, it's been one thing after another. Worrying for mom too. Sending healing vibes.

Ever since Stripe has been sick, he's lost his taste for most lettuce and cucumber. He'll munch a little pepper and he devours basil. I'm headed to the store so will get some and maybe coriander.

He's been munching hay all morning and I cleaned his cage and put the cream on his bottom. Praying that the cream heals the infection.

We've had to have heat on the past few nights. Michigan winters are brutal, we sometimes go below 0⁰ F. Lots of snow.

Stripe munching, keep him in your prayers.

Lol I have studied. Guinea pigsif

They are, but Learning theories are the same. If you actually read what I was saying I have done more than research, I have qualifications and do refresher courses each year. So I am educated, because it is very interesting. Thanks though
This is @Ramia ’s thread for her piggies and associated responses.
I think your post is on the wrong thread and so may get overlooked

Poor Stripe- look after yourself too Xx

If you did, you'd encourage them to learn as much as they can. I apologised straight away for coming across rude. I didn't mean it, unlike you. As a boss a direct message would have been more professional, smoother and nicer in a direct message.

Chez zoomed while I spot cleaned, of course he peed on the coroplast so had to clean up that mess.

Stripe had his cream, wound looked better. Recheck Thursday.

He even ate some romaine. And if course, basil.

I honestly have hope that we're going to get through this. He ate a lot of hay while I was at work.

Had a nightmare the boys had mites last night!

I recently had a nightmare that the devider fall down and they fought. Mylo was with a bite would and I had to rush him to the hospital, but it was unlikely that he will servive. When he was sick I also dreamed that he died and I was crying in my dream. So you are not alone. Sometimes we worry too much I guess.
