Stripe and Chesney

Stripe seems to have finally remembered that after veg each pig gets a little sliver of cookie to let them know veg time is over. They finish their veg and then beg for their cookies.

The wash cloth seems a little too thick to get into the anal sack. I'll try wipes again tonight. He hates having his bottom cleaned. Grease gland looked pretty good.

Hoping for positive X-rays Friday!
I clean their sacks with cotton swab and coconut oil and finish it of with wipes. That way you can really get in there and get everything dirty out. I found that giving their pellets or veg for the day while they are on a chair or whatever, helps to keep them still and occupied , while I clean their bottoms or grease gland at the back. But don't forget to put something like a puppy pad, cause some nasties fall of.

Also if you are gonna do it that way, be careful of them taking a leap of faith aka blind jump. Mine don't, cause they are busy munching but generally it can happen, if a piggy gets scared or something.

I hope he gets well soon.

Thank you, great tips on hygiene! It is rewarding when they are all nice and clean 🫧🪥

Thanks @MnJ for the cleaning tip! I just tried it and got some smudges out and will do it again tonight.

The boys just had a cage cleaning and are munching. Stripe had some good looking poop this morning. He's still getting one serving emeraid a day.

No work today just a short grocery trip.

Chez burrows more and more, poops on the coroplast like you wouldn't believe.

Chez is creeping along like he's scared of something. Maybe when I opened the door Stripe made that noise he makes when he doesn't want his meds? That always scares Chez. Anyway, not sure what the creeping is all about..

Stripe has lost his taste for cucumber but is regaining it for lettuce and peppers.

His bottom seemed pretty clean this morning.

He has been really thirsty on the antibiotics. Will mention it to the vet Friday when he gets his X-rays.

The boys are currently having some Small Pet Select vitalicious herbs. Flowers, clover, nettle. Chez just has his on the fleece because he's not smart enough for the puzzle, but Stripe had his in his puzzle. Here's a picture of him eating from his puzzle.

Now he left the treats to play with the lids.

Can I ask you what calming herbs you got and from where?

They're from Small Pet Select called Zen Tranquility. I think they have a UK store online now. They have lavender, clover, chamomile, etc and I gave them to Stripe and hour before the roofers came. I gave a large pinch.

Stripe has been biting at his bottom all day and when I went to clean it there was a little blood so we're off to the vet in case of impaction.

He was originally scheduled tomorrow for X-rays but we're going to do them today so he doesn't have to go back tomorrow.

Let's hope for the best, we leave in a half hour. Long drive, poor Stripe!

Stripe has a wound on his anal sack that he was gnawing on today. Unrelated to the ear infection.

I just wept when the vet told me and it would involve more antibiotics and a salve.

I just felt so overwhelmed and like a failure I told them to board him till he was better, so I'm picking him up Monday. He's wearing a little cone.

I'm just so sick about this.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry to hear that about Stripe - you’ve done so much for him
When you collect him on Monday he’ll be back to normal
I can understand how overwhelmed you are feeling and you’re not a failure ….youve worked so hard to nurse Stripe back to health and his ear etc has got better - this was just something else….sometimes these things just happen
How were the X-rays ?
Don’t forget we’re here supporting you 🥰 and we all understand

Sorry to hear your little piggy is under the weather. Sending healing thoughts and comfort ❤️

Sending you hugs. ❤️

You are a fabulous piggy slave. It is stressful caring for a poorly piggy.

Now the collar is on, he should be OK. You have done really well.

I'm wondering if he got the wound from a timothy hide he chews on. It's kind of jagged.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. The emergency vet said not to do the X-ray but I'm not sure what his regular vet will say. I'm sure he'll have a recheck.

I've cleaned his cage and removed the jagged hide in preparation for Monday. He'll still need antibiotics and possibly the cream, and maybe even the cone but a little break will be nice.

A vet technician calls twice a day with updates. Last night she called and said he's eating, urinating and pooping. He wriggled out of the cone once.

I'm hoping my dad gives me a thousand dollars for Christmas to rebuild my savings again.

I'm about to go check on Chesney.

Got the morning update from Stripe's tech; he's eating on his own and his weight is stable. His wound looks the same so he'll be on baytril and a cream when he comes home Monday, and he'll still need his cone.

Chez is doing pretty well without Stripe, but he's been a little more fearful of loud noises. He's also been spending more time under the fleece.

I just know he got that wound from the jagged timothy hut and I feel just awful I didn't think of it. So it is in the trash and I ordered a fleece hidey from Amazon that should arrive Monday.

I had a dream last night that my house was bigger than it really is, and in my religion (Islam) we believe some dreams are prophetic and according to Islamic scholars that dream means well being so it might seem silly to you, but it gives me hope for Stripe.

Here's an aerial view of Chez and his cucumber.
