Eriathwens piggies

Ivy attempted to climb into my hand last night when I went to give her a chin rub 🥰 she's so happy here which is nice. She desperately wants to move in with the other pigs, especially the big herd and has worn down her incisors all wonky chewing the bars to reach them.. ive a feeling I'm going to just bite the bullet and intro her when I next clean them out. I'm concerned things won't work with Tilly and her ovarian cysts, I saw her chasing and nipping at Finley last night, much to his confusion..which is quite a task at her age! I wouldnt want to overly upset her with the dynamics disruption if Ivy is pregnant. So the big herd seems the best solution.

And also.. Pearl, just because she's adorable. In spite of being blind feels safe enough to sleep deeply with her eyes closed 😅

So.. Ivy has been chewing the bars so badly I decided to try her with the big herd. Everything was fine to begin with, however she sensed weakness given how unbothered they all were with her presence. I sat and watched as she challenged everyone, starting at the bottom of the hierarchy, all the way up to Oliver. The 2 of them ended up almost getting into a fight as he wouldn't back down and she wouldn't be mounted, I called it quits when they bumped into Delilah and knocked her over, thankfully she's fine though.

She has to be pregnant.. ive never seen a baby try to overthrow a whole herd before 🤣 she clearly thinks she should be in charge for a reason and pregnancy is pretty much a guaranteed route to the top, no one has told Oliver that though, clearly!

Anyway, I'm going to keep her seperate until her pregnancy watch is over and go from there. I'm eternally glad I didn't try with Tillys herd, she may be 8 but Tilly is fierce, and would've knocked her into next week before I could've intervened!

It's a shame, everything was going so well until Ivy saw her opportunity for chaos 😅 I do see now how her previous owner may have been bitten if she was picking her up after spats like that. I just ushered her into a carrier, I do enjoy still having 10 fingers.

Shes the first in ages I've had trouble bonding so it was bound to happen eventually 🤣 little bugger. She's possibly just sick of having 2 males fighting over her, shes a few nips to her ears that I assume were from the males. So no wonder she's a little on edge!
 
Fingers crossed she has at least a daughter so she will like at least someone 🤣

I've just gone up and found Lily tilting her head off and on, checked her over and saw some 'hair' poking out of her ear canal. I figured I'd be able to gently pull it out with tweezers, as soon as I closed the tweezers she yanked her head back... it was a grass seed! 😱 no wonder she was tilting her head, that must have been so sore! I've given her some metacam and told her not to do it again. Poor thing.

Ivy has gained 60g in the last 2 days..she turned 6 months old on the 21st, her old owner had her exact date of birth which is nice that I'll know her birthday. But at 6 months she shouldn't be 904g 🤦‍♀️ especially with how small framed she is so I guess that settles the is she/isn't she question. I'm so glad I got her so she can recieve the care she needs, and not be immediately reimpregnated by those males!

Well it's full clean out time again...I made the mistake of putting the dustpan down for 5 seconds, Delilah had to make sure it wasnt edible! And of course Daisy had to see if she could climb it XD lots of popcorning when their fresh bedding went in (excuse the rubbish videos, it's hard to hold a camera and get shavings out of a bag apparently!)
Mine love to try and steal the dust pan out of my hand and climb on it 😂

Ordered some milk replacement and miracle nipples today, just in case. Shes still growing, bless her, and her belly is extremely firm now! I should probably make her a thread over in the pregnancy section just in case. I worked out yesterday it's been 20 years since I had a piggy litter 😱 so, now I feel old 😅

Little sausage was making a massive fuss about wanting out today, climbing the bars and shouting at me so.. we had a little bit of lap time via the cat carrier express 😅 I am glad we have bonded so quickly in case she needs any help during the birth. She still doesn't seem too big from above, it's side on that she seems to be showing.

She’s gorgeous, reminds me of my Coco 🌈 I am sure that she will be well, she’s in very good hands 😊
 
Poppet has been booked in for an ovariectomy on the 1st of September as she has a 2cm mass on her right ovary, it will be done by the exotics specialist while my vet observes and learns how to do the procedure. Bailey will then be done on the 11th by my vet, under the watch of the exotics specialist. Unfortunate to have 2 piggies develop ovarian cysts at the same time, but its great that they can be used as a learning experience to be able to offer this surgery to more piggies I the future!

Now that it's August, Tilly is officially 8 years old! I can't say she's in 'good' health, being blind, neuro, cystic ovaries, fluid build ups likely due to a tumour, arthritis, developing cataracts, head tilt due to E.cuniculi and an issue with inflammation in her conjunctiva..but! She is getting everything she needs, is comfortable and happy, still enjoying her life with her friends and hopefully will be around for a long time to come still.

I know you shouldn't have favourites but she is definitely one of mine 😅

Tilly says thankyou everyone for the birthday wishes!

No babies yet! I have a rough due date down as the 3rd of September but could be a week either side. I cant yet feel defined babies so I don't think we're quite at the week 6 range yet. I already feel bad for her when she lays down, she doesn't look comfortable, I hope she doesn't get much bigger! But she is still gaining weight. She was 982g a couple days ago so she's likely over a kilo now, she seems to be gaining 50-60g every few days right now which is just madness. Poor girl!
