Eriathwens piggies

Absolutely gutted this morning and quite in shock, I put the piggies light on earlier..did a head count to make sure everyone was OK like I do every morning and nothing was out of the ordinary. I went, got everyone's meds ready, came back up and Pippin was laying flat in the middle of the cage, gone.

By the looks of it she heard me come up the stairs, turned to come get her meds and just passed in an instant. Which while good for her, I suppose, was quite a shock for myself and her friends who were trying to wake her back up. It hadn't even been 15 minutes since I said morning to them.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry to read about losing very Pippin
As you said best for her but a shock for you all
Take care of yourselves and Pippin’s friends
Popcorn freely at RB lovely girl 💔

Beautiful Pippin feasting on grass ❤️ So sad she's gone. No care for yesterday, no care for tomorrow, they live in today always. Feast sweetly over the bridge little Pippin 🌈

So sorry for your loss of beautiful Pippin.
A terrible shock for you but a lovely ending for her, no suffering and amongst those who loved her.
Be gentle with yourself now.
Hugs :hug: :hug::hug::hug:

BIG HUGS

While it is a blessing for the piggies themselves, it comes as huge shock to their mates and us when they have a sudden big heart attack. Lying on the belly (and sometimes even with hay or grass still sticking out of their mouths) is the characteristic pose for that kind of passing. There is never any warning and it always comes as massive shock. :(

Please be sad but don't feel bad about losing your handsome gent in such a way. Give yourself time to digest both the shock and the pain of the loss in your own time - it is always such a big whammy when you cannot brace for it.

Luckily the piggies haven't really been affected by Pippins loss, we collected her ashes yesterday.

I did the first big clean since she passed, which is always a bit emotional.. but the suns out and its been nice and warm, the piggies have been enjoying their fresh hay in the sun.

Bailey is a little bit bloaty again and Lily has been drinking lots and losing a bit of weight so I'm going to try to get them both to the vet next week.

All the best for the vet check. Be kind with yourself in this difficult time.

Thanks guys, I nipped down to pick up Silvers gabapentin prescription and made both Bailey and Lily an appointment for Tuesday morning, so, fingers crossed we can get them sorted. I am quite concerned given that Bailey is Pippins sister that she probably also doesn't have long, I would put money on a type of cancer somewhere at this point. But she seems to be obliviously bumbling along which is nice for her, at least.

I also hope the Vet visit goes well
Keep bumbling along lovely Bailey and keep eating sweet Lily 🥰

So, Bailey definitely has gas..she had an ultrasound and confirmed there's no fluid. But exactly why she's bloated is still a mystery.. we could see her guts working perfectly and moving, she did some great poops in the carrier too! So she's back on emeprid 4xs a day at a higher dose than I was originally giving but it's still on the lower end of the dose range. Fingers crossed that helps shift things but considering the loss of her sister Pippin, it seems like she's palliative at the moment and we're waiting for a crisis, or for her to follow Pippin.

Lily was very much in character, rumbling at him while he tried to listen to her chest, trying to zoom around attempting to bite both of us 😅 safe to say, she was absolutely not impressed by her trip out of the house.
She's been put on baytril in the hopes that her increased thirst is due to a kidney infection so, fingers crossed that helps!

So within 24 hours, probably even less to be honest, Baileys bloat went away again on the 6 hourly emeprid.. which is nice, if honestly a bit baffling. But at this point I'm just rolling with it, stressing about the not knowing isn't going to do anyone any favours. My own health still isn't great, I was told to come in Thursday for yet more blood tests, I've got an appointment Tuesday to discuss the results and how I'm doing. I dont know if the fatigue and chest pains are related, but most other things I'm starting to think I've an ovarian cyst or something, which to be honest has made me laugh. I feel for the piggies if this is how they feel because if someone tried to pick my up right now I'd do more than bite them 🤣

In more good piggy news though, Lily does seem to be drinking less, which is nice. Hopefully she will chunk up a little bit now.

Cherry decided she was going to sit and actually let me take a picture of her looking beautiful 😍 I do love red eyed piggies. She seems to be swaying back to a lilac tint as she ages after becoming almost white for a while 😅 maybe she's part chameleon 🤔
