Betsy Ovarian Cysts?

So glad to hear that Betsy’s op went well.
It’s a good job you were able to get that done so promptly.
Hope she makes a speedy recovery now.

Sounds like you were right and it was just as well it was dealt with now, not left until May.
Loads of healing vibes for the ever beautiful Betsy, hope she's back to her normal self in every way very soon xx

That's strange, because dots spay was left until May2018 from March 2018

Betsy's cysts felt Iike hard balls about an inch in diameter to me and I'm not trained, she lost most of her fur across her shoulders and down her sides, was very grumpy and screamed when I picked her up. Was Dot like that?

She didn't have ovarian problems. But a uterine mass. So simon did a full spay whilst he was in there

Have just attempted to give Betsy another syringe feed before bed. Managed to get 5ml into her in 0.2ml increments. Took about half an hour. I noticed that her top incisor on the right and the bottom incisor on the left are a bit broken. They weren't like that this morning. Could it have happened during the operation? Or the syringe feed that the vet nurse gave after? If not how do you think it happened? Will it effect her eating properly? It's only a couple of mm.

Il tag @furryfriends (TEAS) . I believe they can manage with broken front teeth. I don't know about always or not. My only guess it, it could have happened if someone fed her off a metal spoon? It's a wild guess.

Will she eat picked grass? Or is this not a good idea right now. Just thinking it will help wear the rear teeth and pigs can pick it up well with broken front teeth

Ted came back with broken bottom incisors after his castration/dental which we didn’t notice till a day after he came home. He was having difficulty picking food up and noticed they were missing. They grew back very quickly. We wondered when it how it happened. Betsy chipped Seth will wear even once she starts eating. Occasionally piggies sometimes grind their teeth if in a lot of pain, that could have been a possibility too

So glad to hear Betsy is doing well and the spay was a success. Hopefully she started eating by herself soon but at least she's taking syringe food. The pictures look so similar to what my Honey was like, only her back had more baldness, when they were finally diagnosed and removed, Kate said she would've felt constantly pregnant 😱 I imagine Betsy would've felt the same! So glad it's good news though! X

Oh crikey Betsy what a huge operation. A human close to me had ovarian cysts removed measuring 12cm and I was in shock at something so large in a human let alone in a teeny tiny piggy like you! You have been very brave and you are a strong little lady to be doing so well afterwards. I'm sure you feel much better already

@Betsy oh my.
just read all thread. . :) who needs a book phew. I have cos I've got girlie piggies and learning all the time different problems.
well what a to do eh.
You be a good piggie and show piggie mummy that's you getting better not to quick of course wait till the coriander runs out.

Well this morning Betsy is much brighter. She had two night feeds the first she took 5ml in 0.5ml increments the second feed was 12ml and you would have thought she had never been fed. This morning she took 21ml! She was wandering all over the cage in the night having an explore judging by the huge amount of poops in there this morning. The liner pad was also soaked with wee in places so it looks like her insides are working properly!

I weighed her and before feeding and she weighed 1000g. Yesterday before she had the op she weighed in at 1094g

Here is scar day 2.

Yes you do feel preggers, sickly, bloated and hormonal x

Dennis is really missing Betsy while she is in the Hospital Cage. Betsy has really brightened up today and I think that putting her back with Dennis will help her. Do I need to wait for the stitches to disolve first or can I put her back in the hutch tonight? The hutch is washable puppy pads with hay until my new fleeces arrive which shold be the beginning of next week.

Talk about speed syringe feeding! As soon as Betsy has had one syringe she is ready for another! I can't believe how fast this piggy wolfs down the syringe food! She won't even let go of the syringe when it is empty! Then when she has had enough its "No don't want anymore!":D

Oh baby girl I am soooo pleased, you brave little bean! 😍💕
Wishing you a speedy recovery Betsy, you’ve got this! Big hugs to mummy! I’m so happy. 💕

When Phoebe was spayed I separated the cage with extra grids - she just worked on them until she got through and rejoined the herd.
Her wound was fine.
I think she’ll do better with Dennis - they’ll both be happier and as she’s eating well and coming out of the anaesthetic all you need to do is keep an eye on the wound
