Betsy Ovarian Cysts?

Well done Betsy you brave little girl! Delilah, Daisy and Misty say it's not too bad, you get to have the best sleep of your life, then when you wake up you get absolutely spoilt with veggies and the yummy food that comes in a syringe! You'll feel a bit wobbly but you hardly notice with all the treats and food you're given :)

Daisy and Delilah have little growths on their nipples too, they've shrunk and softened since their spays but I kind of wish they were removed while they were asleep too.

All the best with Betsy! From Dot and bernie and the 2 rats.. Bernie has a lump near his nipple, I thought it was a mammary tumour, but it turned out to be nothing to worry about

Aw, bless her, hope it all goes well x
Had the courage to tell the OH tonight (after a wee drinkypoo) and he said that £150 wasn't too bad for an op so I guess I now have his approval to go ahead. Too bad if I didn't Betsy has to be spayed so it's happening. Vet fund is still recovering 7 months after Rainbow Piggy Velvet was so ill but I have enough to cover the op ...... just.

Have just had my holiday at Easter cancelled so will now not be going away. I have also had to cancel my piggies holiday with Aunty Lucy the Boarder. This means that I can bring Betsy's spay forward. I'll phone the vet tomorrow to see when they can do this. Shall I take Dennis too? Dennis is Betsy's "carepig" as she can't see anymore and she relies on him alot.

Aw, sorry about your holiday but on the plus side Betsy can have her op sooner. I would definitely take Dennis along for company x

All of my spayed girls have come with a carer companion except Hapus (Heilin is a total freaker who has got IC - and the last thing I wanted was to trigger with an operation scar on the belly is an acute episode). It's generally massively helped with recovery.

All the best!

Lightning is being spayed on Wednesday (I hope!) for ovarian cysts and they said Shadow will be with her in the vets cage at all times, apart from for the actual op. Fingers crossed for all our piggies that the vets stay open.

Sorry about your holiday. Fingers firmly crossed for Betsy, I would take Dennis to be with her.xx

I've brought Betsy's spay forward to next Wednesday but was told that the are not sure if they will be able to do routine operations after this week. They said they would let me know .....

Oh dear such uncertain times... hope Betsy can get her operation and makes a smooth recovery x

Having listened to Boris tonight it looks like Betsy won't be having her spay next week:(

I'll phone the vet this morning and see what they say. Luckily the recovery food I have is best before May 2020.

Managed to get through to the vets at 9.15 this morning and they informed me that only emergency visits/operations were happening until at least the end of April. Got Betsy booked in for Monday 4th May which is 17 days after her original operation date. So happy with that. Glad I phoned so early and she is on the list for the first day they are operating.

Just emailed the vets as Betsy's getting worse. She is very irritable and has now lost most of her fur in a ring around her front legs and on her shoulders instead of fur loss just being on the sides of her tummy. Her tummy underneath has lost a lot of fur too. She no longer tolerates Dennis (her best friend and the love of her life) anywhere near her wheareas before they were always snuggled up close. I have noticed this change in behaviour and fur loss over the last week and am quite worried about her. I have asked if there is anyway the her spay could be brought forward.

Fingers crossed the lovely miss Betsy can be spayed earlier. It's such a worrying time, a good friend of mine also has a piggy with cysts but her vet won't even give her a consult to confirm it and book a spay.. it's very frustrating all spays no matter that cause seem to be classed as routine and unnecessary.
I hope Betsy is feeling much better soon.

Yes I was told that it was a routine spay and wasn't classed as and emergency. I don't think ovarian cysts are routine though! Poor thing I feel sorry for her. I have thought she may be in pain which is contributing to her irritablility.
