What made you happy today?

My friends from Northumberland phoned me tonight to wish me Happy Christmas and to let me know that they are getting married in March - they've only been together 24 years. It's about time he made an honest woman of her! I don't think we're invited as it's only going to be them, her grown up children and husbands/wives and 2 friends. I couldn't be happier for them. They are a lovely couple and I love them both dearly as friends.
 
Actually, I can quite recommend two Christmas Eves. I don't think I've had a relaxed Christmas Eve since I moved out of my parents' house, but today I even napped! Safe in the knowledge that actually... nothing really needed doing if I didn't fancy it. And after a small amount of housework now I get to relax all evening 🍷🧀🥖 Looking forward to a second go at having Christmas tomorrow!

Made an Arctic Roll for our dessert today.
It doesn’t quite look like the picture in a recipe book but I did adapt it to be sugar, gluten and dairy free.
Homemade ice cream in the middle as well.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed it 😁

From my brother. We give each other a token gift and a charity gift as the main present.
 
Went into Liverpool today with my husband to get my phone upgraded.
The transfer went smoothly apart from no longer being able to access email on the phone yet.
We had a lovely lunch and bought our currency for NZ - a big adventure next year.
Our entry permits also arrived and it’s less than 2 months before we go

Christmas was... sort of enjoyable! Better than the last three anyway. We opened preaents, ate a meal and watched TV without shouting or killing each other...

Had a last day out of the year, sales shopping. Bought a t-shirt and some half price sets from Boots. Currently drinking a gin and lemonade in the pub to toast the many lovely outing we've had this year.

2024... I'm sort of ready for you!

I'm like that with my sister.I don't see her so often even though we live in the same town but we've always had a similar sense of humour and always have a laugh when I do see her.
 
I got home from Wales by train without too much trouble! One hiccup with the train to Newport but as I was changing trains there I got away lightly.
I hope everyone else who was going further afield on that train got to their destination okay eventually!
I love spending time with my daughter but am very happy to be home with my boys!

I’d love to move to a quiet rural location. My husband is always looking. But with an elderly MIL and a mum with late stage drementia I need to be near for them. Truly enjoy yourselves
 
Had a lovely relaxing day.
Spoke to family and friends, including a friend in the USA.
We started as pen friends over 50 years ago.
Went out for lunch with my husband - we had a lovely meal.
Booked to go out for a meal with a friend next week while I’m in Yorkshire looking after workmen.
It’s been a lovely day 😊
