What made you happy today?

I placed an order from Jacky's Pantry a couple of days ago for Christmas pressies for an elderly Aunt (never know what to get her) and Son No 1's girlfriend. Order was despatched yesterday and arrived this morning via FedEx. I am happy that it arrived so quickly. I've never had FedEx deliver anything before and was well impressed!

I found out about Jacky's Pantry when I went the Malvern Show back in September. Such lovely Jams and Chutneys.

We had girls night at mine last night. Last one before my birthday so they surprised me with flowers, a balloon and... A guinea pig! 🤣 we have eaten it's bum so far so that Jessica could see it this morning 🤣🤣🤣IMG20231102221316.webp

I have to say Kelly, you definitely don't look nearly 40 by photos I've seen on the forum. The cake is so cute, did someone make it?
Haha thank you, what I lack in looking my age I more than make up for in feeling it 🤣
It's a Ginny the guinea pig cake from Asda. I did nearly send two of them home though when they said it didn't have a tail and were surprised to learn guinea pigs don't have tails 🤦‍♀️

The fireworks show we were supposed to go to was cancelled so instead Jessica has gone for a sleepover at granny's and me, hubby and Martin went for dinner at Miller and Carter. Unexpected night out and really enjoyed it. Now chilling on the sofa with my crochet

The fireworks show

I swear it wasn't til I read this and realised there's probably a reason for the fireworks I keep hearing and seeing, that I've remembered Guy Fawkes Night is a thing. And it's not like I've been living in England for a decade or anything XD Every year. I forget this every year.

I get the impression these days it tends to be referred to as Bonfire Night - and I wonder how many younger people really know about Guy Fawkes and the plot to blow up Parliament and King James. Halloween seems to be overtaking it and getting a bit mixed in with it too. So it's not hard to forget why the fireworks..

It's not a thing in Northern Ireland (our bonfire nights tend to be a little...rowdier, and with bigger bonfires) but it's not like it was never taught in school. Y'know, in a "here's a thing the English do" type of way.

Just looked at my photos from the fireworks. For the first time ever I took more on my phone than my camera! Both have turned out ok, so its giving me hope to take decent photos when go to Blackpool illuminations soon!

So, George enjoys lap time. He gets so relaxed that sometimes he even sleeps. He was enjoying a chin stroke when Boris came over and to my surprise and delight, dolloped himself down next to George! He stayed there for about 10 minutes and what you can't see in the picture is that he was so relaxed that he had his back legs stretched out. He is always happy to climb on us but doesn't settle for long and we don't make him so this was amazing. Also it's reassuring that their bond is good despite the occasional squabble.IMG-20231110-WA0001.webp

A day late but went shopping with hubby, picked up a few stocking fillers while he got my birthday present and then we went for an amazing lunch. Despite Martin cluster feeding most of the afternoon and evening we had a good night's sleep

I've been working with Shadow and Oreo coming when I call their names by rewarding them with a pea flake. Athena and Brownie do not like pea flakes so none for them. Shadow has been doing very well at letting me stroke his head now, he is learning that if he is extra friendly he gets more pea flakes. It's been nice making friends with him. :yahoo:

On a different note, is there a better way to feed pea flakes? I feel like I am going to lose a finger when feeding them. My husband doesn't get it that I am worried about the safety of my fingers. I feel like I am feeding a shark a meatball.

I just hand feed mine the pea flakes and they are taken very gently from my fingers (NOT!). Other than putting them on the floor of the hutch/cage/run I don't really think there is anything else you can do.
