So, in spite of doing very well and eating well, I got home from running a little while ago to find Panda making her way across the bridge she passed very quickly, which is a comfort. It took me totally by surprise, she was absolutely fine when I left her a couple of hours ago after feeding her, she never quite got over the loss of her sister Pumpkin, they were inseparable, so in a way I'm glad they're back together
I am so sorry Panda has made her way to the bridge, take heart you gave her a wonderful life and she will have known just how much you cared and loved her, take care
Ah I’m sad to learn Panda has gone to RB
She was a gorgeous piggy and living her best life with you all
Beautiful Panda reunited with lovely Pumpkin
Popcorn freely Panda at Rainbow Bridge with your sister
Thanks all, I went to collect a new bottle of metacam earlier and cancelled her follow up appointment I kind of knew she wasn't going to make it to then but always got to hope, they do seem to enjoy surprising people.
I meant to share this picture yesterday while she was still well but was late going out running. After I put Panda back after her feed Amber was begging to lick the spoon, until the rest of them ran over like a shoal of piranhas!
We've been having ongoing issues with our central heating, the first time I had to move all this pigs into boxes, the guy didn't bother turning up, the second time on Sunday he was an hour late, he came back today..again an hour late to say I was annoyed is a bit of an understatement as its caused a bit of civil war between Dylans group, someone in Ivy, Kiwi and Popcorns box launched themselves at someone else and Biscuit had to come out as well for a bit as everyone kept picking on her, with her clotting issues I didn't want her getting knocked about.
The plus side was I got to spend some time just chilling with them and the cat trying to keep the peace, having a bit of a cuddle.
Ivy almost looks like she wants to burst into song
This evening has devastated me, I came up to do evening meds and as usual Forrest took them through the bars like a good boy but he did not stand up. I noticed his eye looked weird so I took him out to make sure nothing was in there and when I lifted him he was completely limp, thin and frail. His teeth had started to curve inward and I can only guess that this had started to prevent him being able to drink (he seemed to eat his veggies normally earlier!) His eyes are both incredibly sunken in, so immediately he's had some banana which he wolfed down and I corrected his teeth in the way my vet taught me. I've been syringing him bio lapis and emeraid for the last 4 hours in between allowing him to rest and eat soaked pellets from his bowl.
He has improved a lot already, standing up and kicking off when I try to lift him. He doesn't want hay but he does eat everything else by himself, I don't think he has figured out how to pick pieces up yet. I'll get him some grass when the sun comes up to show him he can do it.
He has groomed himself and kept his balance and his eyes are starting to look better.
However it's been a massive wake up call as to exactly how fragile he is, even if he doesn't show it most of the time. Once the vets open I'll be straight on the phone, hopefully for some fluids and a thorough check over. I am very worried that his teeth weren't the issue and he is nearing the end of the lifespan his poor little body is capable of, given his string of health issues this year, but fingers crossed he can turn around.
Thankyou all for the lovely comments, I just wanted to update that sadly Forrest has passed away. Obviously we are absolutely heartbroken, Silver has not taken it very well so we are giving him lots of love and support while I figure out what we can do so he isnt alone
Oh I’m sorry to hear Forrest has died
