thrown out as suggested :) If we can't hire a room somewhere Kylie is going to show up with tinsel to clear the pub for us lol

Much as I love the "throwing out " skills of some of our members - I much prefer the idea of a function room - and if there is a cost, I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind paying a small price to cover the cost .

Yes it wasn't so much the cost I thought of but the ability to actually get a room for a Christmas party :)

I am sorry I could not make the meet-up this time round, but hope to come to one in the future. It sounds as if a good time was had by all:yahoo:.

We need a majority vote on this . I like the idea of having a meet at the Welly - and Birmingham seems to be a good place to meet .

However, I'll just throw another idea into the ring.

One of my favourite pubs has a function room which we can have for free on Saturday 28th Nov . The pub is less than 5 minutes walk from Chapeltown railway station (Chapeltown is slightly north of Sheffield) . If anyone would be driving, it is quite close to Jn 35 of the M1. The pub menu is basic - but, if we wanted to go ahead with this idea, the landlord will make arrangements to cater for vegans, vegetarians AND omnivores. Erm , the pub is having a beer festival this weekend too - but assure you this is just concidence !

Alison was saying yesterday that last Christmas Birmingham New Street was gridlocked because of the roadworks and the German market. It was taking 1.5 hours to get in and out.

Yes I think its a difficult one balancing somewhere suitable with good access by train and car! Chapeltown sounds interesting and while that's fine with me (I'm north of Birmingham anyway but will take me twice as long and cost twice as much to get there) I wonder whether its feasible for the people living more south that usually come into Birmingham. Maybe some people further south can give their thoughts.

For Birmingham, I know a few people who tend to drive to Coleshill and get the train in from there to save driving into the centre of Birmingham which could be an option for drivers.

VickiA also suggested we could meet at Kidsgove at The Potteries function that they have towards the end of the year.
