A place to rant about things that wind you up ( keep it clean lol)

Have you installed any programs on there at all? How old is it? Have you done any necessary updates?

No I never bothered with it really. It has Norton security and Currys set everything up when I got it. Its on auto update so it does its scans and updates when needed. It's 4 years old I think but I barely use it, twice a month if that and mainly to sort photos out on my external hard drive or bit of internet shopping/work stuff.

It's going to currys tomorrow. I rang the helpline thing as have a care and repair plan. Laptop didn't play ball and let me do anything they wanted me to do with it so recommend getting it checked. Need to get out the house too - 14 days into the new year sibling is blackmailing us and up to his old tricks.

I feel like the worst human alive, but meh. Went to get the goblins sorted, Cam has some brown stripes down his pink side. Cam should not have brown stripes on his pink side. Cam does not want to leave his bed so I can make sure they're not dried blood. Cam is grumpy, Bann is confused, and I am covered in wood shavings, hay, pee, poop, and anything else that came flying out of that bed in Cam's insistence I wasn't getting anywhere near him.

It's not blood. I'm 99% sure it's poop that got wet (like, say, by a certain other goblin peeing all over a fabric bed the first goblin was sleeping in). My heart rate won't calm down. Bloody hell, Cam.

Update, definitely poop. Found the offender when doing the Snugglesafes. Not soft, clearly just peed on and trampled and...lain down on. I'm forgiven for food but I wasn't allowed to put the Snugglesafes back in their original places so they've just had an impromptu cage rearrangement too.

I'm getting too old for this.

Oh, Cam why are you scaring your hooman so much? Glad to hear that it was just a sneaky poo painting party that the boys were doing.

I'd normally have given him a wipe down, but Asda substituted for aloe vera ones in my last order and I don't really want to be using those on him if I don't have to. By the time I came back upstairs with the Snugglesafes done he was trying to shove Bann out of the way because it was pellet time, so I'm clearly forgiven. That five minutes of fighting with him to get him out of the bed was the most exhausting thing I've done all week, though.

Oh boy those two…..🥰
Glad it was just poo 🤭
Hopefully you can relax a bit today 😂

It's a minor thing, but I really want to paint the inside of my house. I've been staring at primed white walls for over 11 years and I'm over it. I need to paint them myself as I can't afford a painter, but I cannot figure out what color to paint. The other challenge is that it is an open floor plan so I want all of the downstairs the same color as I don't like the accent wall idea. I have so many different colors I've looked at and tested and I just don't know anymore. I will think I have one picked out and then I show it to my family, "Oh no. That color is depressing." and they aren't wrong.

Just choose a colour and go for it. I quite like Buttermilk it's a very muted yellow and can brighten up a room without being overpowering and is far less boring than Magnolia.

I guess I could just try polka-dots with all the colors..... :)) That could be interesting.

On another note, dishwasher just decided to not drain/die. Silly thing is on its 3 pump so maybe that is the same problem or it has finally died.

If it were up to me, everything would be a shade of blue, green or grey. Grey isn't dull or boring in the right shade and matched with the right "other" colour.

Mum and I got into a massive argument once when she took me to buy paint. I was going to paint my bedroom blue. You'd've thought I'd have tried to murder someone. It was too dark, too boring, I was going to hate it, she wasn't going to bring me back again just because I picked the wrong colour, I had to go and find a more appropriate one.

Why did she lose the argument? Because I lived alone. This was my own home and I got my blue bedroom and she actually admitted she was wrong once it was finished. Never apologised, but hey. I won that round.

Argh. I got my letter copy from last week, except they've emailed it over. A password protected .docx. I do not have anything that can open .docx. Google Docs can. I have to download it then upload it just to read it. Sigh. At least I've got it I guess. Also he's written something relatively NSFW so I won't mention what it is (NSFW to say outside of the medical context, not that he's being inappropriate) but he's specifically emphasised a particular sentence that I can't stop laughing at because I remember that conversation and the look on his face as it was said.

Also I apparently unintentionally lied. He asked how long I'd been on the hormone treatment and I said 3 years, which is accurate...except it's three years of the previous monthly injection, not three years of the current 4 month one. I didn't realise that's what he meant. Oops.

Still. Password protected .docx.

Trains and replacement buses……still travelling after leaving the girls for the 4:56pm train. 1st change okay but delayed, 2nd one is 24mins wait and then hopefully there is a bus from Havant to southbourne or else it will be a long cold walk.

Managing to wear my new glasses for an hour a day now. My eyes pull a bit after about 40 mins then seem to settle again. Hopefully not take too much longer to wear them in.

Buying a floral print fabric that looks like it doesn't have nap. Ordering just enough for that maxi dress pattern you have just brought... Finding out it does have nap and now having to find the energy to try and play pattern piece Tetris to be able to make said dress 🤦‍♀️

Sometimes I wonder about myself. Asda order's just turned up. Bought my usual caffeine and the goblin's rations, then as food for myself for the week...a bag of crisps, two packs of breadsticks, and a Ginster chicken and bacon pasty. You know how people say don't go food shopping when you're hungry? If I'm not hungry I just...don't buy food. Sigh.

Any one else have to wear glasses permanently? Please tell me I'm not the only one that wears new glasses inside first. I'm a bit worried that when I wear them outside in daylight over the weekend, I won't be able to see properly!

I have to wear mine all the time now. I can’t drive without them. Though sometimes I won’t put them on straight after I wake up. Or when I’m in bed before sleeping.

Are you supposed to wear them all the time? Why do you think you won’t see if you wear them outside?

I have to wear glasses or contacts or I'd break my neck trying to walk down stairs. Myopia and astigmatism, both eyes. The astigmatism takes some getting used to in a new prescription, though. Your eyes are telling you where the floor is, but your feet (and the rest of your body) insists the floor is somewhere else instead.

I picked up my new glasses a couple of days ago @Sar. I wore them straight away to drive back from Specsavers. They are great! I can see so much clearer now. Be brave and wear them outside you'll be fine. It's amazing the detail I can see. Before leaves on trees were just a green blur, now I can see each individual leaf.

I have to wear glasses permanently for 4 yrs now. I wear glasses when I'm outside all the time now, but it's when I'm inside the house that I don't wear them all the time. 😂 I only wear it if I'm going to watch tv or use the laptop. I usually don't like wearing it when I'm reading a book. I have distance glasses so reading for me is fine without glasses.

I have an appointment for eye test tomorrow. I moved it forward (my eye test is supposed to be end of Feb) coz I'm feeling that my eyes have gone worse again after 2 years. Although I am hoping it's not and just me getting annoyed with my glasses. 🤞

I've had reading glasses for years, can't see at all without them now. I've had distance glasses for about 4 years and have worn them about 4 times. I can't walk in them, they feel odd and going in and out of doors they steam up so a pain when shopping. I can hardly see detail now and had to find them this morning to see what bird was flitting about the garden. I now accept I really need them and will just have to adjust to wearing them all the time.

I'm writing this on behalf of the pair of robins in my garden.

"Why have you taken away our nest that we have laid eggs in and brought up our babies in for the last few years? This nest has belonged to our family for years and years. We have enjoyed this nest and have loved living in the ivy on the post each year. . It was a very safe environment to bring up our babies in. We know that in the storms in last year or so it got a bit rocky and the post was a bit rotten but it was still our home every year for our babies."

Sorry Bob and Wendy Robin but we had to remove your home before the nesting season started in a few weeks. We do feel very bad and guilty about removing your ivy and post home but it was no longer viable and the post had rotted entirely and was only being held up by the ivy plant and it could have fallen down at any time. We very much regret taking away the post with the ivy on it as we loved it almost as much as you did. We loved seeing you taking in food for your babies.

Poor Bob and Wendy. Hopefully they will find somewhere else in you garden to nest @Betsy .
I really hope so. We really didn't want to get rid of their home but had to. We put it off for 2 years but really couldn't leave it and longer. We have a large garden with lots of shrubs and the back half of it is wild so hopefully they will find somewhere suitable.

Had an email from Evri this morning to say my parcel that's taken weeks to arrive is on the way and will be delivered between 11am and 1pm. (What they mean is they've found it at last) It's now 1.45 and it's still not here! I've been waiting to go out. :hb: It seems a change of name has not improved the service!
