I just went to make the piggies' breakfast and found the "lettuce" I ordered is actually kale! :yikes: The grocery store really needs to educate their staff the difference between kale and lettuce. I guess I'll be going back to the store later...
I was going to "laugh" but on reflection it's not really funny that people both don't know the difference and don't check what the packaging or shelf labels say...

I remember helping out at primary school when my children were young (a few years ago !) and a boy told me he thought carrots grew on trees

I'm sat in one of the vaping subs on Reddit trying to explain what they're looking for doesn't exist. I've told them this numerous times now, they're still not getting it, and I don't know how many more times I can explain this, nor do I know how many different ways I can find to say the same thing. They're just not getting it. :hb:

Some people just don’t get it 😤

My mum's in hospital :( I don't have much info beyond that.
I'm sorry, it must be hard being so far away. FIL is in hospital yet again, losing track on whether this is the 3rd or 4th time this year now. Tests keep coming back inconclusive so still no idea what we are really dealing with but at least we can visit and physically support. Please know you have many friends on this forum should you need to talk

According to my dad she came home with chest pains, an ambulance was called, she's in the local A&E and had blood tests done but that's all he's said, and I'm pretty sure it's all he knows. I know the hospital, it's pretty good as a general rule but has a massive catchment area and they're probably getting hammered by patient numbers.

They won't have taken her to hospital for nothing. But it's a waiting game, and I'm really bad at those.

Oh no I hope you and your parents get some answers soon. Hope she’s ok. Sending you a hug 🤗

That’s great your Mum is home - hopefully she is recovering and feeling a lot better🥰

Hah. She's home, not cardiac related, but I don't think my dad's very impressed with me saying "yup, that's heartburn". They've sent her home with 30 days worth of heartburn meds. Now, heartburn is absolutely horrendous. It might be "only" digestive related but there's a reason it's mistaken for cardiac issues, and Mum won't have been the first person to have ended up in A&E for it. Hell, not even the first person I know. But Dad...
"No I think it's a bit more serious than that."

Yes Dad. It is serious. It's not my fault you think horrendous pain mimicking a heart attack can't possibly be something so benign as heartburn. Families 🤷‍♂️

Sending much sympathy and best wishes to your Mum @Lorcan. Having suffered that kind of indigestion lately I can say yes it really is extremely painful and can easily be mistaken for a heart attack. I seem to get it in times of stress. I hope your Mum feels better very soon.

I get it too, I've taken daily doses of a proton pump inhibitor for years now. Same class of meds as my mum's been given. Without them I can't eat or drink at all, the pain's horrendous. They're both very weird about pain, though. This is a good example - everyday stuff is normal and doesn't cause severe pain so if it's severe pain it can't be for a benign reason because benign reasons only cause the bare minimum of pain. Until it happens to them, then yes, it can be painful.

There's been a good few arguments about it over the years. Donkeys years back, more than a decade now, I had a blackout, knocked myself out, nasty concussion. Bad enough that even after coming round and getting in the ambulance (which took a while, I lived in the sticks) my blood pressure and heart rate were through my boots and they insisted I had to go on the stretcher. What caused it? Pain, specifically a nasty bout of IBS. But "IBS doesn't cause that pain" because they also have IBS and the pain isn't that bad. Or breaking my foot "you're only struggling because you're a smoker and you've sprained your ankle that's all". Or breaking my toe "that looks fine to me stop complaining" (three times its usual size and red and purple, "looks fine" my backside).

This is not a complaint, lol, I stopped listening around about the time I had the head injury, because it was a nasty fall. Perks of being an adult. Mum's at least not being difficult about it, it's just Dad, although that might be a result of spending the night in a busy A&E. And I'm glad it's just heartburn, even if they're not. Heartburn's treatable with relative ease.

I think it's very worrying to watch someone you love in so much pain that you convince yourself there is a serious issue, and then obviously the worries of something going missed and being left on your own kick in (or does to those of us who naturally jump to the worst case scenario).

I remember my dad was once rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack and it was a severe panic attack. You are right, anything that manifests with symptoms similar to a heart attack is a serious issue and must be horrendous for anyone to go through

Glad to hear that your mom is ok, @Lorcan My mom had something similar, but I had to drive her to the hospital. It was really scary as I just got my driver's license (I was 16) and didn't know my way around yet. It ended up being her gallbladder and she had surgery the next week.

Yes I’m glad your Mum is ok - she’ll have had a mini mot while there so it’s good they found out what it was.

I hurt my thumb on my left had a while back. I was shaking the drips off my hands before putting them under a blowy dryer thingy and it felt like the thumb had come out of the socket and went back in again. It was a bit painful and as there was no bruising, I didn't bother too much about it. On Tuesday, my thumb completely seized up and wouldn't move, I could only bend it. It was so very painful, I called the Dr. The Receptionist told me to dial 111, 111 told me to see the Pharmacist who gave me some Ibuprofen gel, told me to put it on 3 times a day, 4 hours apart minimum and then if it's not better in 3 days go and see the Dr! I was seeing my Acupuncturist on Wednesday anyway, so mentioned it to him and he put some needles in the muscle in my arm and the muscle at the base of my thumb and released my thumb so at least I could move it, he told me to keep it warm and keep using it and massage it whenever I could and also keep applying the ibuprofen gel. I'm now getting shooting pains up my thumb every so often but I guess that's just the muscle spasming. IT HURTS! I'm reluctant to go to the Drs cos all I'll be told is to take painkillers.

Have you gained full movement in it or is it still not great? If not I would consider going. It’s been going on a while…

Sorry. What’s it done (or not)?

@Lorcan hope your mum feels better soon. Glad it wasn’t something more serious.

It's so slow. Needs a scan every week to keep it happy. I spent 3 hours on Monday trying to load an internet page up to try and order some bedding, in the end I gave up. I've been trying to finish something this afternoon and I'm sat here losing the will to live. When it does work, every five seconds it decides not to respond. I barely use it and apart from a few downloaded wage slips on it, there's nothing on it. Clearly I wasted my money on this pile of metal/plastic.

Have you installed any programs on there at all? How old is it? Have you done any necessary updates?
