I've just seen this thread.gosh you have been through a tough time. I hope Luigi make a good recovery.
Thanks so much, yes very pleased it’s all gone and hopefully no more trouble, he’s my Gigi!Poor Luigi. Sorry you are having such a rubbish time at the moment, but so glad the lump is not something sinister.
Sending the lovely big Luigi hugs and healing vibes for a speedy recovery.
Hugs to you and Lolo.xx
Thanks Jane Me too, nothing will keep my porky boy away from his grub Just hope all smooth sailing for him, I am a bit worried after Pedro’s long battle but very different areas and abscesses so xSo glad it’s gone so well Becci and your beautiful boy is chomping so well x
Thanks so much amazing Abscess Queen! I’m not being tough enough with it then by the looks of it, I shall be a bit more forceful for his next one! Just feel mean I guess but I do not want it getting infected or any blooming trouble with this one so I’ll have to be! Hibiscrub will be ordered now!You could use some dilute hibiscrub! I find giving it a good scrub with the flat cottonwool pads is the best way to keep it really clean. I flush and then scrub! That sounds delightful!
When Tallulah had her abscess wound our vet scrubbed it out with hibiscrub for us every couple of days, I was too much of a wuss to do it properly at home, but the vet scrubbed away at it like mad with cotton wool and diluted hibiscrub just like Debbie suggests! I think the scrubbing action helps debride the wound, clears any dead and infected tissue away and stops the surface healing with infection underneath... hugs and healing wheeks, will be a rough time for you @alpacasqueak especially with memories of Ped the pirate and his naughty eye socket, but you've got this xGigi’s wound’s looking a bit more red and swollen now, he was getting upset with me at last flush bless him as uncomfortable. I’m a bit worried the tissue inside is looking a bit grotty, scared I’m not cleaning it properly Really hard to get a good photo.

I’m holding it up and out more so it does make it look worse than the above pics! I’m not scared enough to ring vets just yet but I was just wondering if anyone that’s done it would recommend using hibiscrub rather than just the saline? Thinking that might help?
I really don’t want another Pedro situation on my hands
Thank you, me and my boy will kick this bloody abscess‘s butt! Yes I was finding it a bit hard to do the same! But I cleaned it a little while ago with a bit more force, flushed first then scrubbed and wriggled those cotton pads in there a bit more, it’s already looking a bit better and he was actually enjoying it a bit I think the strange lad! A bit more blood and looking a bit more fresh now I guess Hibiscrub and a stock up of cotton pads coming tomoz! When Tallulah had her abscess wound our vet scrubbed it out with hibiscrub for us every couple of days, I was too much of a wuss to do it properly at home, but the vet scrubbed away at it like mad with cotton wool and diluted hibiscrub just like Debbie suggests! Thanks so much Yvonne, I was having a bit of a panic I must admit, thank goodness I’ve dealt with two bloaty pigs and a hugely bloated chinchilla in the past! Definitely looking a lot better, much less wobbly than yesterday too poor chap. Thank you! I’m definitely in need of a nap today, gone two days without and I’m shattered! xxPoor Luigi and poor you, what a scare. Hope Luigi continues to improve today and that you can get some rest. xx
