Tofu and Patches!

(I could not get Patches to pose without the poops 😂)

Patches’ lump seems to have shrunk some more. I’m going to call the vet next week to arrange getting it removed, but I half wonder if it’ll just go away on its own. I am a lot less worried about it after his last appointment at least
 
When Patches came to us, I sewed him some new fleece, including two tunnels. Except I hadn't made them before and the first one came out very wonky and a bit small. I made the second one bigger and neater

What has Patches done? Decided that the first lumpy, too-small one is actually the best thing in the universe 😂

I love that picture of him and Tweed snuggled up together, they were precious 🥰 He loves snuggling up to Tofu as well. They’ve never shared a tunnel (yet) but they do nap together a lot

Tofu likes splaying out on me for naps, but he’s never been a fan of fuss and scritches. Patches is a love bug and often asks for an ear rub

Here he is closing his eyes for one earlier (Tofu always comes running because he wants what Patches has, but he never likes it when I actually try to stroke him in the cage 😂)

Patches is back at the vet today to have his lump removed. Tofu is with him for emotional support

The lump keeps changing in size - it’s bigger again now - and I’m fairly sure it’s been causing him some pain. Hoping he’ll be more comfortable once it’s out

The more senior vet is doing today’s procedure and she’s very good. I think they’re also going to try and send it off for analysis depending how things go

🤞 all will go well and they’ll be home soon

Patches is home! The op went well and they managed to get the lump preserved enough to send off for testing. I’ll have more peace of mind when we know what it is, but I’m glad it’s out

His wound is bigger than I expected, poor thing. The nurse said he did very well and was eating and pooping after he came around from the anaesthetic, and Tofu has been snuggling up to him for company

As soon as I got him home, he wandered (sleepily) into a fresh clean hidey and started tucking into a pile of hay I left nearby for him

I’ve got to keep an eye on his wound and he’s on Metacam for a week to make sure he’s comfortable, and back for a checkup on Monday

He’s a very brave little man! Tofu is curled up right outside his chosen hidey ❤️

He looks a bit shocked at the indignity of it all 😂 and he’s very grateful for the well wishes!

Veggies went down well! He hasn’t moved from the hidey at all, but that’s to be expected I think

He’s a little sweetheart ❤️ we refer to them as Elder Pig and Mischief Pig (guess which is which lol) and Tofu is certainly fulfilling his mentor/caring role today!

Tofu has been checking up on Patches pretty often. Though I think it’s become a mix of concern/comfort and ‘hey you’re hogging the hidey, can I have it now please’ 😂

Dear Geoff & Freddy,

I have been treated horribly! First we went to the Evil Place where they sent me to sleep and when I woke up there was a big scar on my tummy and I have lost a nipple! The indignity! At least Tofu was with me and he didn’t chase me off when I wanted cuddles

I suppose the treats make it slightly better. I even got to have some of the tasty Metacam syringe that Tofu has this morning. I hope that carries on for a while

I will be demanding veggies once an hour until the humans realise never to put me through this again

Thank you 😊 he’s moving around this morning - even made it over the little hurdle to the other side of the cage! He’s eating as well, I’ve got little piles of hay around his favourite fleece bed so that I can *try* to keep his wound clean haha

Tofu was snuggled up with him in the same tunnel for a while after breakfast meds & pellets ❤️

Patches is doing better again today 😊 he’s had a few bouts of zoomies and been eating away all day. He has also been chewing at his wound, which is less than ideal lol. Waiting to hear from the vet if he needs to be seen sooner than Monday

Tofu is continuing to check up on him and offer snuggles ❤️

Yes I asked earlier today, just waiting to hear back. He’s only on 0.2ml (dog strength) once a day so I think it could do with being a little higher

He has been doing zoomies ever since I asked though haha, in defiance probably 😂
 
Happy to report the vet agreed to put up Patches’ pain meds 😊 he’s continuing to do better today which is a big relief

I got out the sewing machine yesterday and took apart some of my old liners that don’t fit the cage anymore. The boys both approve of the new tunnel and pee pads and my washing machine is thanking me haha
