The Beastie Boys

Last night after the immediate quick scan and treatment of Master Boris the boys just wanted cuddles and comfort. I've checked them both properly now and Sir George has a scratch on his nose. I've come to the conclusion that Master Boris is a dominant by nature and Sir George having such a laid back personality is the only reason they lasted a year together. Master Boris managed to perfect and perform a proper rumblestrut and it did seem to be that the issues are him challenging for dominance.
Neither is exactly thriving as neighbours, does that improve with time?
I'm considering looking for a couple of young boys but not sure if it's worth the risk of being left with four singles. One thought I've had is for Auntie to adopt Sir George with a new companion. He absolutely adores her to the point of envy from me! She and us are always round each others houses so I would still see him a lot.....
Obviously then Master Boris would also get to be an uncle pig.....

Lots of decisions! I hope it all works out. I'm so sorry the bonding didn't work out.
 
Noooo, I am sorry to hear your boys have decided that its the end of their friendship.

Hamish has adapted well to having neighbours. Billy had been alone for some time before living with us, & we only knew him for a short time, but he was a calmer pig as a neighbour.
Wally is doing well with next door living.
Its definitely taken all the boys a little time to settle. Its just like it takes the 2 weeks to form a more stable bond, but this time with a shared wall, the longer the boys have lived like this the more settled they have become.

I hope you find a solution that works for everypig & the humans!

The Beastie Boys are splitting up? 😢

What about taking away their plums? I don't know anything about boars, would that help or is there no saving their relationship now?

Also, if you got a younger pig, could you possibly end up having the same problem when the new pig becomes a teenager and has a spike in testosterone?
 
Taking away the plums doesn't change their behaviour, also I think the vet might charge extra for these boys 🤣
You're right, there's a possibility of the young ones deciding to become dominant.
I'm not making any decisions just yet but definitely not going to try bonding them again 😞

The only time I ever saw one of my sows pee-spraying Squeaks, was not long after they had come home from being bonded at a rescue. My guess is that Squeaks had pushed his luck a bit and she was firmly putting him in his place - he never did it again! I'm sure gorgeous (and Dignified) Sir George would be  far too much of a gentleman to try it on with a ladypig like that 😁

My ladypigs would spray him regardless - being gross little yobs is their hobby.
 
The op sounds a bit scary. The vet who does it needs to make sure it does not result in an inguinal hernia, and needs to know his way around the district really well according to an article I read which put me off doing it in London as I don't know any of the local vets and most specialist exotic vets are so inundated they are referrals only. So my boys are staying separate but side by side unless their hormones leave voluntarily as they age. It would be nice if they could settle down with a sow. Perhaps I could get Truffle a rubber sow 😉

Miss Bramble doesn't know what a humping harem is and has asked Misty and Misty told her it's nothing of her concern and she should never ask her again! She then asked Thea what a humping harem was and Thea gave her a good tongue lashing for being so rude. Miss Bramble is still none the wiser.

Seriously though, it's something that might give them some comfort in their solitary state!
 
Sir George has always found "comfort" with his humping harem as they couldn't run away like Master Boris.....
Master Boris had been showing more interest over the last few months, so got his own humping buddies.
In both cases, they get groomed, dragged around, used as pillows, cuddled up to and of course...humped🤣
 
I gave the girls a humping toy, well, just a small cuddly toy to see if they'd cuddle up to it, use it as a pillow or groom it.

Gaia ignored it and Minerva violently searched it for treats and when she found none, tried to poop in its face. 🙄
 
I use baby safe toys that are roughly piggy sized and cut the labels off. They got ignored for a while but then he started to gather them neatly into his favourite sleeping corner before violating them🤣

Using them as camouflage! Very smart.

It is well known that we Slaves are both blind and thick as two short planks; we would easily confuse a real guinea pig for a soft toy.

Now he may scheme in peace.
