The Beastie Boys

They do love their hay cubes. I stopped buying them after Peanut got his 3rd neck/face abscess as the vet thought he could be poking his skin on the hay shoving his face into the cube. I've never heard of anyone else having this problem though so I do wonder if that was the reason. He didn't have another abscess after I stopped buying them so I've not risked it since.

The boys have seven comfortable beds and three padded fluffy mats but Master Boris has decided that the best place to sleep is in the hay cube 💤🙄
He gave The Daddy Slave some grey hairs last night too. It was hubby's first experience of a full on death nap. I was watching and could see that he was breathing but even I started to worry...🤣IMG_20240617_124144.webp
 
The Beastie Boys have had a big argument. Master Boris has been smelly and I caught him rumblestrutting so I assume he tried to usurp the top pig position. Luckily we were both in the room so it didn't quite get to an actual fight. They are at the moment on separate floors, not ideal I know but it happened late at night. Later today the cage is getting split properly with both having 3x2 plus 2x2. I think they can have a few days as neighbours then, depending on how they are, a bonding session. 😭

Oh dear, I hope they get along well again after a break. Best of luck with the bonding session!
 
I'll see how they get on as neighbours. When my original pair had a bond break that wasn't possible as Tim never stopped trying to attack Sir George and kept hurting himself on the bars.
Any opinions on how long to leave them as bar buddies before trying a bonding session? I'm thinking at least a week.
 
Sorry to read about your boys having a falling out.
I hope they enjoy being neighbours, and can be persuaded to be friends again soon.

It would be such a shame if they couldn't live together anymore. 😢

I hope my two don't fall out with each other. They started rumblestrutting and spraying pee at each other again yesterday. Actually, Minerva mostly rumblestruts and Gaia mostly sprays pee at her and gives her the middle finger. She's such a lady. 🙄
 
That's a last resort option ✂️🍒.
Worth considering though as mixed pairs are the most stable. If their bond is broken I don't really want them living alone, I know they would be neighbours but..... Getting them a baby boy each could ultimately result in 4 singles.....🤔
It's possible that I'm just seeing an opportunity to get more piggies 🤣
Mind you after reading about pee battles and stroppy girls in season....🤢🤣

You do just want to get more piggies... I bet the boys aren't even fighting. 😆

Pee battles are part of a girl's charm! And they're not all stroppy when they're in season... it's very probably just Gaia - who is always stroppy anyway. And I'm sure most of it is just a game to Minerva.

It appears its not just girls who can pee on purpose. Wally is very good at aiming a wee at me when I go to pick him up!
 
Bonds In Trouble

Lots of helpful info in this guide. It says to separate overnight. I think if you separate for more than a couple of days it's harder to get them back together, which is why medical separations aren't recommended.

I've had a pair go back together after a night apart. Red and Brillo had 2 days and wouldn't bond.
