Salisbury Meet - 13 January 2024

Bring that along. Last Year @Crystella brought along her fluffy pompom off her hat I believe and it made quote a convincing piggy! I may be wrong of course but it wasn't a piggy that accompanied her....
She brought 2 or 3 ( I can't quite remember)piggies along too lol,I don't remember their names though :hmm:

My pom pom hat will be back and I've got my pui pui ones coming this time plus lil' Tim, another new addition. I'll not have my Pui Pui hoodie but will have a lovely top on with piggies and a few tiny bunnies on it.

I think with all these piggies etc we're gonna need an Extra large table lol.

I will still be joining you on Saturday. However, sadly Milo has a confirmed melanoma on his back. We have an appointment Wednesday next week to see if it might be possible to remove it. This will depend on being able to get enough margin around the cancer and still close the skin. 😢 I am told this type of cancer is extremely rare in guinea pigs, our vet has never seen it before.
Oh gosh @YvonneBlue I'm so sorry to read this. What a shock for you all.

So my plans may change. The vet rang to say they could fit Milo in for a review of his melanoma today. If he needs surgery urgently to stop the spread of the cancer then i won't be traveling tomorrow. I don't think it would be right to leave my OH to care for Milo post surgery on his own. So I am waiting to hear from the vet.

At least here on the forum you all understand.x

It's great that Milo can be fitted in so quickly. Of course we understand Yvonne, you'll be missed but piggies come first we all know that. Be good to see you if you can make it.

The latest news is that unfortunately that the melanoma on Milo's back is too big for them to be able to remove it and easily close the skin. However, we have been given the option for a surgery that is more usually carried out on cats/dogs where they use a skin flap from another part of the body(where the skin is looser) to close the wound. The surgery cannot be done until 23 January as it will be one of the other vets that carries out the operation. I asked lots of questions and it is a big operation for a small animal and the recovery will be longer, so i am thinking it over. I have booked him in but can still cancel if i decide it isn't the right thing to do. He is almost 5 years old and also has arthritis but this op could give him another year or two (as long as the cancer doesn't come back. He may only have a few weeks if we leave it, as it will spread internally eventually. It is very difficult to decide what is the best option for him. Do i go ahead and put him through a big surgery which hasn't been carried out on a guinea pig before or do i opt for palliative care and give him a comfortable life for the whatever time he has left.

If anyone has any thoughts on this i would be be happy to hear them. If i have time i will start a thread in the Health and Illness section to get a wider opinion.

Assuming that i can still get a train ticket i will try and get to the meet tomorrow.

Can I come ?
I am over 18 😁

Of course I’ll behave.
I always behave 🤭

Absolutely! :inn:

@Merab's Slave always behaves :inn:
Heathers nearly as angelic as me :D

I'm not sure if I can make it tomorrow, I'm still totally wiped out from the bug I had over new year, I don't want to doze off on the train on the way home & end up at Exeter St David's!
I'll see how much energy I have in the morning. I can buy a ticket at the station first thing.

If I don't make it I hope you all have a lovely time anyway, safe journeys to everyone & hopefully we can get a spring/ summer meet organised in may or June anyway. xx
