Maybe he felt it was okay to do it like this but abscesses need drainage and you haven’t got that. Are you able to get any pus out?

Not tried as wasn't told to do so and given impression this was the way forward. ive not had a piggie witb abcess before. . . I will give Florence a good check am
She's asleep now with Mrs Dougal and can't see the lump.
If it no better soon then I will act.
He did say took a sample and did try and i have to trust him.

Read the thread. Why do vets use a small needle for a sample instead of getting the crap out.

Morning. Florence was up and breakfast waiting which course I was pls to see.
I gave her meds then breaky she's bright. her lump defo not fixed and she let me squeeze it without moaning but I think need to let meds try.
I am very protective of my piggies and i will do what I can
Thw lump to me doesn't seem any bigger which i will continue to check . .
She's now having a strop because Mrs Dougal has got the best corner for a nap.

it is big. . hence my panic. trust me I want it gone that's why I took her on a emergency vet yesterday.
As I'm now home for 3 weeks due to virus I'm cleaning and watching her.
that's her now led in hay munching.
if she was still or not eating etc be vet call asap.
I'm hoping the vet knows what he's doing and I've no reason to question them yet.
Florence and Mrs Dougal haven't stop messing all morning I feel if I ring vet he prob say it's been less than 24 hours since i notice give Suifatrim.
I'm worried sick etc and will keep checking her weight (1203 last night)
She's now in a rice crisp box.

Wow! That’s huge! Looking at where it is, I’m wondering if the whole abscess capsule could be removed!

Christian had a huge abscess a couple of years ago and the whole capsule was removed. This is the size of it.

hi massive thanks for asking.
on a personal note and guess feeling sorry for oneself it means a lot.
I'm off work live alone and having a big clear out.
Well FLORENCE has had med no 3 just now followed with veg and leaves now bit hay her weight is good 1200 and is acting as tho nothing is up. She let me have a good feel and no way is the lump going to be squeezed as it's not on skin.
Really hard to tell if it's bigger or same as course tho fur.
I really want it out and tempted to ring vets but I expect them to say hang on only been 24 hours.
Florence is now resting and oh panic Dave but so is Mrs Dougal so don't panic.
Tho had pigs for 4 years I'm still learning and i really hope to see a improvement by Thu Fri i was given med for 10 days I will ring vets or if the lump or Florence seem worse than asap.

Update on Florence . . She's ok in my not expert opinion her lump is no bigger. . .
In herself she's good eating and at the moment sharing a fresh paper bag with Mrs Dougal.

She's does not like taken her little med but knows a treat after makes us a team. lol.

Been 6 days and Florence still has a lump. . . It's defo no bigger and i feel it's slightly smaller.
She's a lovely piggie and getting on.

Still have 5 days meds and will email vets Sunday to tell them latest..

Healing wheeks for Florence and hugs for you too Dave, hope the lump is shrinking- if not you might ask the vet about surgically removing it, or opening it up properly for a good regular flush out, to make sure all the infection has gone? But whatever treatment we all hope she makes a good quick recovery for you! X

I've rung the vets about Florence. Her abscess is no bigger and perhaps a little smaller They going to ring back Thursday. She's absoulte ok and busy little piggie . . the excitement this am after a run change was a joy to see.. .
This was am after the little meds. X
She really is a love and i wish this dam thing go. I have a talk to Paul when he rings Thu. Fingers crossed.
