Piggie looks like she has mumps Do i need to PANIC.

Thank you. Paul the vet has taken them in at 4.55
This feeling of waiting whilst you're loved pet is being look at or examined etc is gut wrenching tho they will do their best for the animal. . Dig Deep Dave. man up
I know the feeling, I get a bad stomach in the vets, I shake and just don't want to talk to anyone. The smell of the f10 sets this off too. Can't stand it

The waiting is horrible Dave, but she is in the best place and will soon be home with you. Sending hugs

Home look at them faces20200419_174732.jpgHard conducting a talk about your piggie in a car park but hopefully I got the idea.
He took a sample and it was puss and little blood so it's a abscess. . said teeth ok and lump not fixed. She has food in her mouth.
I asked what cause it and then he went into details how a little cut in mouth can cause it etc etc.
He tried to squeeze it but Florence was not helping . . he thinks it just little deep but hopes the needle hole might realise some.
If not then little cut to get it but only if this antibotic doesn't work.
She's got Suifatrim .03 twice a day . . one given before I returned her to Mrs Dougal who TODAY SQUEAKED for what I can honestly say one first times I've heard her gave me a lump . . to swollow.
So it's now see if medicine helps etc. 10 days worth.
if it gets any bigger or she's changed her routine food etc then I have to call them.
I know no magic cure and she looks.
Sorry about this " down in the mouth ' but guess be worse.
She sends you all lots love 20200406_191545.jpg

That all sounds sort of positive David. See how the antibiotics go. Keep us posted when you got time. I think she will be fine 👍

What I meant is, you have a plan now to follow, and even a plan b sort of if that doesn't work. Vet sounds good

I am only just online, but well done Dave for getting her seen so quickly.

Honestly our Eddi had the exact same problem in the exact same place.
We were then given the exact same treatment.
What happened with Eddi was that the lump did get bigger for a couple of days, even after starting on the antibiotics.
I called the vet back and booked him in for surgery but the lump actually burst on it's own the night before.
We cleaned it up and went to the vet the next morning and she just cleaned it properly, gave us instructions on what to do at home and he did fine.
I hope you will also have a smooth(ish) journey with this too.
You are doing everything you can for your girl.
Sending hugs to you from Switzerland.

just seen this thread. So sorry to read that little Florence is poorly. Fingers and paws crossed here for her. Big hugs for you Dave.

I agree with plan
I'm at home now next 3 weeks and course Flo needs her meds and i will give her a good look and meds then a weigh then a cuddle then back with the now vocal Dougal.

Keep a very close eye on it, as when a needle is stuck into an abscess, the pus can leak under the skin and doesn't always come out through the needle hole. I am guessing you meant 0.3ml Sulfatrim and not 0.03ml?
lol. Dopy Dave yes 0.3. how will I know if puss is leaking into her and not through the needle hole.

I'm off work due to do virus for 3 weeks then back (i print for NHS) SO I defo check on Florence when it's meds time etc.
Hugs to you and remember sweets just ask ok

Ideally this should’ve been marsupialised (stitched open) so you could flush it. We have a piggy, who was signed over to us recently, who had a needle put into abscess by previous vet. The pus has leaked from his jaw, throughout his whole body and burst out through his belly. I don’t mean to scare you, but this would never have happened, if the abscess had been dealt with properly. When does the vet want to recheck the abscess?
We’ve never used Sulfatrim for dealing with an abscess, preferring to use Zithromax or a combination of Metronidazole and Marbocyl.

It is a big advantage being in lockdown for people who normally work 9 to 5. the fact that you can keep any eye on pets that are sick.

Scare me. . wow can't say how I feel.
I've tried vets who are not piggie specialists.
So I take mine to exotic vets.
I'm now confused as I've put my trust and that of Florence in these.
He said if antibotic doesn't work or gets lunp bigger etc then they will operate to remove it. Got 10 days meds
