Georgie - Chest Infection and Possible Heart Condition

So the vet isn't too worried as he is still eating and pooping. She thinks it could just be very mild bloat. I have to monitor him and take him to Ashleigh tomorrow as they open Sundays for a couple of hours. If he deteriorates in any way I have to take him to the Vets Now Hospital which is nearby.

Georgie spent the whole consultation with his head in a dish of critical care.
Thinking of you both 🤞

I feel really bad because we have gone out for a couple of hours to see our favourite outdoor theatre company. They haven't toured for two years because of Covid. I'm not really enjoying it because I am worried about Georgie.

I wasn't really convinced be the video consultation.🙁

Don’t feel bad, Yvonne. You can’t be with them 24/7. And he was eating critical care by himself a short while ago.

Managed to get an emergency appointment with our own vet this morning. Georgie has a fluid buildup in his chest, this is being treated with Frusol (0.38ml twice daily). We have a follow up appointment on Thursday. Poor little fella is fed up with being prodded and hates his meds (even the Metacam). I wish I could explain that we are only trying to make him feel better.🙁

Poor Georgie. Hope the meds work quickly and he’s soon feeling a bit better. ❤️

Blodwen is still thinking of Georgie too, she says frusol is a very good medicine it tastes fruity and is very good for turning nasty lung fluid into big wees. Blod only got 1.5mls frusol twice daily but it still gave amazing symptom relief, she could breathe much more easily and that helped her eat better too, it stopped the very worrying nasty gurgly heaving sides laboured breathing symptoms very well. Hope it works for Georgie too. Healing wheeks and also many hugs for you @YvonneBlue there's so much going on with poorly respiratory piggies isnt there supporting both breathing and gut function...
Really hoping for a good outcome, its a tough battle but it can be won hopefully with a bit of luck and you are doing everything you can for Georgie x

Thanks @PigglePuggle, we now have 4 piggies on daily meds, so it's a bit like a pharmacy here at the moment. Just to add to the fun I have take Peggy to the Vets tomorrow, I suspect from her very smelly urine that she has a UTI. I just hope we don't end up with two piggies that need syringe feeding.

Hopefully Georgie will start to feel better once the Frusol takes effect. The vet said his gut sounds are good, so that was some better news.

Paws crossed for Georgie and all your other poorly piggies, we also have 2 old girls needing twice daily loxicom and constant monitoring and Tallulah skinny pig has a persistent/recurrent sticky runny eye... on a good day she just has lubricant eye gel, on a bad day 3 different eye drops half an hour apart, twice a day! Tallulah's left eye seems to be in competition with Blodwen's breathing for the most expensive recurring persistant piggy medical issue requiring most vet trips, Blodwen is breathing absolutely fine this week which of course is a cue for Tallulah having an eye flare up!

I hope that the frusol gets to work quickly to help clear that fluid. Healing vibes to lovely Georgie.

Georgie has just had his first dose of Frusol and a little Critical Care before bed time. Mavis and Peggy lick all the Critical Care off his face when he goes back in the cage.

Aliona sends you a big kiss and wanted to show you her newly acquired grubby beard from her veg this morning! :))
Oh Aliona, it looks like you very much enjoyed your breakfast veggies this morning.

Georgie wants you to know that he ate all his breakfast veg this morning but it takes a long time because his lungs are still poorly. He did make sure his hooman kept the greedy girls away until he had finished. Nuggets are still too much trouble to eat and its easier if they are mushed up in dish.

Peggy got poked and prodded by the head exotics vet today, he checked her ovarian cysts and there was no change. He still thinks it is best not to spay her unless they start to cause any problems. He did find that she has bacterial cystitis so we have been given a 7 day course of antibiotics. The slaves are hoping that they don't upset Peggy's tummy.

What a time you are having @YvonneBlue. Good to hear Georgie is eating veggies & pellet mush. So good to keep him eating.
Here’s hoping Peggy responds quickly to her ABs & she doesn’t need support feeding, too 🤞🏻

Things just keep getting worse. Georgie now has diarrhea. His poop was solid earlier this evening, so this is quite a sudden development. He seems bright enough in himself but I have rung the emergency vet. They said I should not give him his Metacam this evening as that may be causing the problem (i thought this was unlikely) and monitor him through the night. So a sleepless night for us. Poor Georgie.🙁

Oh Yvonne I am so sorry to hear all of this.
All of your piggies are very lucky to have such a devoted slave to take such amazing care of them.

I hope the piggies feel better and you get some much needed rest very soon.
