Eriathwens piggies

Mabel did OK for most of the day, however wasn't able to swallow after a short time. She fought all day but just after 4 she decided she had had enough. We were driving down to say goodbye when we were called back and told she really needed to be let go before we arrived, so I agreed to let her pass peacefully. She spent the day in a little papoose with one of the nurses, no doubt enjoying watching all that was going on. They said how cooperative and well behaved she had been all day, which sounds exactly like her.
I am gutted she didn't get to pass at home but she was in the best place to give her a fighting chance but unfortunately it wasn't to be 😔

The passing of a beautiful piggy. Snap go the heart strings. Snuggle softly, enjoy the sunshine and lots of TV over the bridge little piggy 🌈

Sending you hugs Eriathwen, no one could have done more for sweet Mabel. What a loving home you gave her.
Sleep tight darling Mabel.

Oh that’s so sad to read
Lovely Mabel - popcorn freely at RB sweet girl
Take care Eriathwen you couldn’t have done anymore for your little soulmate 💔

So sorry that Mabel didn’t make it, despite her and you fighting so hard.
A beautiful piggy who has a wonderful life with you.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.
Hugs 🤗

Oh Mabel, I hope you enjoyed all that interaction in your final hours. No more pain for you sweetie 🌈

So sorry you’ve lost Mabel, I think she tried her very hardest to stay with you and watch telly on your lap. Take heart she had a wonderful life with you and all the piggies

Sleep tight beautiful girl 🌈

Thankyou all, its never nice to lose any of them but Mabel in particular has been very difficult. I also seem to have, without realising until now, lost all my medical piggies apart from Silver.. just squeaky wees. I really hope I can get a break from losses now for a little while 😔

We have dropped her off at the crematorium, she will be back home on Tuesday 💔

In better news, Amber has gained 100g in 5 days since clearing her urinary blockage, and she is her usual bouncy self.

We collected Mabel today, she has been placed by the TV, Mum promised her she could watch some when she got home from the vet 😔 so, as Mums favourite.. now she lives in the living room with us, forever watching TV with her favourite people.

I had a bit of a cry on the way back with her, I placed her bag by my legs and it tipped to the side, leaning against me like she used to.. I know it just wasn't well balanced but I'm still sleep deprived and feeling sentimental 😅

Having spoken to the staff at the vet when I went in earlier to settle what I owed for her stay on Friday (turns out they didn't charge me which was nice 🥲) it sounded like it was the right decision for her, which helps. She was comfortable and warm, and passed incredibly quickly, seems she was ready to go.

Thankyou all.

Poppet went to see the vet today to have her wound rechecked, it's healed far better than any of us really expected, there's just a tiny scar left but nothing can be felt in the skin or muscle layers, and there's no palpable abscesses so.. fingers crossed that's that bit of weirdery over with. At the very least if it happens again we know what to do with it, even if we don't necessarily know why it happened.

So I'm on about the 4th box of veggies from Rabbit boxes uk, and I must say, I'm converted.. I dont think I'll be going back to supermarket veg. The piggies have been absolutely devouring everything put in front of them and it's far nicer quality.
Under all that is also about 4 lettuces and 4 bunches of dandelions!
Plus, its a nice suprise when you open the box unless you've specifically ordered your own contents 😅 and I do like a nice surprise..which the 5 radicchio certainly were!

The last 24 hours have been a little odd, I won't lie.
When doing veggies yesterday I was handing out herbs from one of the big brown bags, as I was throwing them into the big pen I looked for Mabel, out of habit, to make sure she was getting her fair share..just to remember that she wasn't there anymore 😔 I looked into the bag to get another handful and sat on the top was a little white feather 🥰

We've been sat watching TV just now and, above the TV (and now Mabels casket) is a little touch light, as far as we knew it was out of battery and dead.. its not been turned on in a couple of years. About 20 minutes ago it very dimly turned on.. and then back off again after a few minutes 😅
So, it looks like I have a very hairy member of the family returned, in a slightly different form 🥰

I've been sitting with Pearl for a while, I felt the need for some piggy cuddles and she's certainly a big lump of pig 😅

Her eyes remind me of little galaxies, she's such a beautiful girl. I've missed spending time with them, I've been sick with food poisoning for a couple of days and just been doing the basics. Finally back to normal today though!

Thanks, the family have all been fine so we're questioning if maybe it was norovirus..either way, I'd rather not throw up like that ever again 😅

Anyway, Silvers turn tonight, hoping to help perk him up a bit. He has spent a lot of time inside his fabric beds, I think he's missing having someone to snuggle with. I'm not much of a replacement for Forrest but hopefully he will have a friend soon.

Oh look at him 💙, such a cutie. Hope he can have a little friend soon, he must be missing Forrest

He really must be. As my vet put it when Silver went for his teeth last month.. they were the same pig in 2 different bodies. And that really sums the pair of them up. It's going to be impossible to find that relationship for him again I think, but I'm hoping I can at least find someone who can provide him some comfort.

I keep eyeballing Chester at Bunnies in Need, but his info says he's looking for a calm female friend. Silver is neither of those things.. Well, he's calm when he's asleep 😅 but he does like to be boss in spite of being wholly unqualified! I'm not sure how he would react to a big adult boar. Equally he would be an easy target for a baby boar once they hit puberty.. I'm thinking my best bet for him will be if Pippin does need spaying, which I do think she will, but ultimately I'm leaving the decision to my vet, due to her age, shes showing physical changes but not behavioural.. I think he will want to leave her unless she has large palpatable cysts.

But bless him, he's not doing terrible atm. He's had a lovely long nap with me.
