Gotta love a piggy snuggle. He's definitely relaxed, letting it all hang out...
He really must be. As my vet put it when Silver went for his teeth last month.. they were the same pig in 2 different bodies. And that really sums the pair of them up. It's going to be impossible to find that relationship for him again I think, but I'm hoping I can at least find someone who can provide him some comfort.
I keep eyeballing Chester at Bunnies in Need, but his info says he's looking for a calm female friend. Silver is neither of those things.. Well, he's calm when he's asleep but he does like to be boss in spite of being wholly unqualified! I'm not sure how he would react to a big adult boar. Equally he would be an easy target for a baby boar once they hit puberty.. I'm thinking my best bet for him will be if Pippin does need spaying, which I do think she will, but ultimately I'm leaving the decision to my vet, due to her age, shes showing physical changes but not behavioural.. I think he will want to leave her unless she has large palpatable cysts.
But bless him, he's not doing terrible atm. He's had a lovely long nap with me.

LovelyThe last 24 hours have been a little odd, I won't lie.
When doing veggies yesterday I was handing out herbs from one of the big brown bags, as I was throwing them into the big pen I looked for Mabel, out of habit, to make sure she was getting her fair share..just to remember that she wasn't there anymore I looked into the bag to get another handful and sat on the top was a little white feather
We've been sat watching TV just now and, above the TV (and now Mabels casket) is a little touch light, as far as we knew it was out of battery and dead.. its not been turned on in a couple of years. About 20 minutes ago it very dimly turned on.. and then back off again after a few minutes
So, it looks like I have a very hairy member of the family returned, in a slightly different form
So, good news for Pippin! She doesn't have any large palpable cysts so she will not be spayed, at her age, the benefits for her do not outweigh the risks. We'll monitor her and reassess if her behaviour changes but as it stands, no surgery for her
However Lily is lodging a very serious complaint that, because of this totally unacceptable interruption to her daily routine, her veggie dinner is almost an hour late!

Poor Silver, he is so lovely. I hope his eye is a simple issue and not dangerousOh we do have a tiny bit of possible bad news, Silvers left eye has worsened and developed thickening of tissue and blood vessels over the surface of the cornea. We had been monitoring one of Forrests eyes before he passed in case of tumour development.. a friend of mine in the US who I managed to put in touch with someone needing to rehome a lethal baby a few years ago contacted me last week to let me know he had to have an eye removed due to a tumour behind it. So the timing isn't great to be honest, it's a big fear of mine and now his eyes changed, but I'm trying not to panic.
So, when he next goes in to have his teeth done I'll be having his eye examined as well and fingers crossed its similar to Pearls eye "plaque" and non harmful.
