Eriathwens piggies

Poor old Tilly is off to the vet in a little bit, she's been passing big clumps of calcium sludge when peeing, today her urine is slightly brown, having tested it there's no trace of blood, but some ketones and protein 😔 unfortunately looking like her kidneys are starting to struggle. At 8.5ish years old though, she's done pretty well, I'm hopeful the vet will have a way to keep her more comfortable.

Lovely Tilly I hope the vet can make Tilly more comfortable - amazing 8.5 ❤️

Luckily, although she's still passing clumps, she has no stones and everything looks OK apart from slight inflammation in the bladder. Her ketones and protein are normal for an elderly little piggy, only slightly elevated..she sure does enjoy worrying me! So the plan is to encourage lots of fluid to help flush out her bladder and see how she goes, I'll also be adding a glucosamine supplement for her.

Banjo was dropped off this morning for his castration, wishing him luck! Hopefully won't be long now until he can go back with his mum and siblings, and they can all meet Tilly and Lily. He was about as keen as I was to get out of bed this morning so I hope he's behaving himself 😅

Hope all goes well for little Banjo, not long niw little fella and you can have some lady company 💙

Well that was fast 🤣 I panicked seeing the vets call so early, usually I dont hear anything until about 2pm! But he's all done, awake and being syringe fed. I'm picking him up at 4ish, depending on when Mum's physiotherapy appointment ends as its just up the road, saves making 2 journeys.
So pleased for him 😀

Great news for Banjo. It will be lovely to see him reunited with his family.x

Little man is home and.. very active 😅 the nurse said he was her favourite one of all the piggies I've brought in, he smells a lot like perfume so it seems he's spent quite a lot of time today being held and fussed 🤣 apparently he was as good as gold taking his syringe feed, eating it willingly.

Now to count down to when he can go back to his family! 🥳

Banjo is doing so well after his castration! Came home like nothing happened. Hoping his next few weeks alone go quickly so he can get back with other piggies. While he is near Forrest and Silver, they're not much company for a boisterous young man through the bars!

I've been sat with Dylan this afternoon, discussing tonight's menu.. he wasn't particularly happy with the rocket he got yesterday.. apparently the romaine lettuce in the fridge sounds much better 🤣
Hes such a handsome chunk of boar, he reminds me a little of Leonard..I'm not sure why, probably because he's such a gentle giant with a cheeky face.

Dear Dylan

I understand that your veg dindins wasn't what was expected yesterday. I like rocket, I think it is yummy but it does have a very strong taste so I can appreciate the fact that other piggies may not like it. I'm so pleased that you have trained your Slave so that you have a little chat about how your dinner was most unsatisfactory and what she can do about it.

To ensure that a disappointing dinner never arrives again you need to:-
  • Wheek loudly at your Slave whenever you hear the fridge open
  • Don't join in with the morning chorus when you know that breakfast is coming. This will worry your Slave and she won't give you anything you don't like.
Hope this advice is useful.

Yours ever hoping for more yummy veg.

Dear Miss Bramble,
Is it ok that Dylan's slave is showing a photo of his peepee?
Yours wanting company on the naughty list,
Mummy slave to the beastie boys
⚖️ I think Dylans slave's occasional lapse into naughtiness is far outweighed by her great saintliness 😇 in looking after so many piggies especially the poorly and special needs ones with such devotion. You'll need to find someone else to join you on the Wall of Shame, @fluffysal !

Dear @fluffysal

I knew the Committee at the GPU were correct in putting you on the Naughty List Wall of Shame forever! You should be ashamed of yourself and find it hard to sleep at night trying to get another Slave into trouble.

Dylan's Slave has never (to my knowledge) posted embarrassing pigtures and has certainly never encouraged other Slaves to do so (unlike you!). Dylan's Slave devotes her life to looking after difficult to adopted piggies, loves them unconditionally and with such dedication.

Is it her fault that Dylan decided it was a good idea to pop out his peepee at the precise second the photo was being taken? I think not!

Yours very dismayed and disappointed by your actions

Poor Pumpkin had been slowly but continuously losing weight, bobbing her head while eating and there was a bit of resistance felt on syringes when I give her meds so I booked her in for a check of her teeth just to be safe. Unfortunately they had regrown about 50% back over her tongue since her last dental in October, so I've had to leave her to have another dental just now. I was expecting them to have started to regrow, but not that much! 😔 but never mind, shes in great hands between my vet and the exotics specialist who did it last time hopefully it'll be OK.

Poor Pumpkin sounds like this will be going 😞 but at least you know what you are dealing with which is a major plus

Shes quite happily back home bless her, I've gone and got her some grass. They said she was already eating but I wanted to see for myself before putting her back, she is indeed munching away very well. She's understandably a little uncomfortable but seems good! Fingers crossed we can get her longer than 3 months until the next, it does seem like this is her now for the rest of her life, but it is what it is for as long as we can keep her comfortable.

Pumpkin has been doing wonderfully and passed her post op phone call this morning with flying colours.
I am wondering in the back of my mind however if she would, if this is now a continous thing, benefit from seeing the Cat and Rabbit clinic to have the work done while awake, I am reluctant to put her under aneasthetic every 3 months at almost 6 years old.
Was there ever a resolution to the prohibition of conscious dental work? Am I misremembering that they weren't taking new clients or? I'm running on so little sleep these days it's a bit foggy and for some reason when I search on the forum, nothing much is coming up.
