COVID-19 Coronavirus

Hey guys. The coronavirus has reached my city do I need to protect my piggies from it? If so how can I ?
I don't think so, to be safe just wash your hands more. And if your guinea pig shows any sign of a upper raspatory I recommend taking them to the vet.

The question you’re answering is from a while back. And I’m sure she got her answer 😉

Well now I finally know a first person to have to self isolate. My sister in law. Someone in her office has tested positive. Crazy that my brother and the kids don't have to isolate unless she tests positive herself. So if she tests positive now then the kids have been going to school (both at different schools as my niece moved to secondary school this year) and potentially spreading it quite widely

I thought the whole family had to isolate if one comes in proximity to someone who tested positive?

I don’t think so, my understanding is that
if person 1 has contact with person 2 who has tested positive, then person 1 isolates. Person 1‘s family doesn’t isolate. Person 1s family will need to isolate if person 1 then shows symptoms or gets a positive test result

They don't. Same as if child is in a bubble with someone who's testef positive. Only the kids who are in bubble (with child who tested positive) have to isolate. Not families of over 150 kids, in our case. My friend has 3 kids at one school and they literally have one at home every week isolating because they were close contacts. If whole families had to isolate they would've been in isolation since September

Our schools had to close its first bubble yesterday, today my oldest has woke up with a very high temp and feeling very poorly so is currently on her way for a test :(

Nope, odd isn't it but I suppose everytime a child tested positive that would mean closing down potentially numerous schools/education facilities as families have children at various other primary/secondary/nursery schools so one school bubble would have a huge impact.

Hope it’s a negative 🤞🏾

Hope all is well for you.

My friend had been in isolation, three weeks back at work & is now in isolation again. She's keeping busy remodelling her bedroom again!

I'm annoyed today as I know some people who are going to break the no mixing households rule - and have 8 people from 3 households in one house together. I'm trying to not let it affect me, they are putting themselves & everyone else they have to mix with at school/work at risk so its on their conscience.

I hope so too, it wasn't her bubble that closed we haven't actually gone anywhere other than school, shop and work (and Sam went to the vets with Callie Thursday) were always so careful it winds me up when people disregard the rules too :( *hugs* this is our 4th time in isolation with symptoms 😒 hoping for negative tests!

Myself partner and eldest son have been tested this week and are all positive for covid. We all had different symptoms. Son had cold like symptoms then lost taste and smell, hubby had hacking cough, then I had cold symptoms and a slight fever. We all went to get tested and our results all came a day apart! Positive. I’m type 1 diabetic and was freaking out but it’s my poor partner who seems to be suffering the worst, incredibly lethargic and can barely stay away more than a couple of hours he has no underlying issues and my son (20yrs) seems fine after 6 days. We are in Leicester. We think son bought it home from work as I’ve been working from home since March 😞

I’m sorry. Hope you all start feeling better soon ☹️

I am so very sorry! Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you and your husband!

I hope it’s mild.

She has no symptoms so far but both the kids are off school too. Nephew has a teacher in his year tested positive and niece has a girl in her year tested positive and was off until they worked out who she had contact with though obviously they are all self isolating now. My brother is worrying a lot as he dropped birthday presents off for me and my mum on Saturday before we knew all this and we said hello (at a distance of course). I have told him not to worry, we have all been sensible and he might not even have it. Time will tell

Best wishes to everyone who is covid positive, hope you all make a full and speedy recovery 💗

Yet another letter from my children's school stating a member of the student body has tested positive, I believe they sent 97 children home! Thankfully neither of mine this time. ☹️

Healing vibes to those who have tested positive or who have family that have, hope you recover quickly

Would you believe it, Trump is now saying that the FDA etc held back the positive news of the Pfizer covid trials so as to deny him a vaccine "win" which would increase his vote share! Says more about him than anyone else, how he thinks politics works.

Trumpy is delusional. He still doesn't realise that people in the real world are laughing at his absurdity. :lose:

An entire school year sent home today from my children's school, thankfully neither of my children but I'm just waiting for the call, I've had my son home before half term to isolate but he was fine.

SIL is no longer asymptomatic. She has aches, headache, tiredness, a cough and just generally feels rundown. Have ordered her a care package from Amazon with a colouring book, crossword book, hair mask, face mask, biscuits and chocolate etc in. Should be arriving on Saturday so hopefully helps to put a smile on her face

Bless her! the headache is like nothing I have ever experienced before, it just didn't go away for over a week. Its amazing how everyone pulls together to support each other. I am certainly on the road to recovery now although my partner is still suffering with it nearly 2 weeks later, he's still incredibly lethargic. I hope everyone like me gets past the worst of it soon. Massive hugs to all ♥ xx

My Mum tested positive a couple of days ago. She’s had to go into hospital today - as her oxygen levels went down to 83%; which is very low even for her. Sadly I can’t be with her but I did speak with her earlier and she seemed to be doing ok x
