COVID-19 Coronavirus

@Emx93 & @anyar.dris hope your relatives recover well.

My bro is isolating in his bedroom due to contact with someone who tested positive. Someone at work who is in my 'bubble' is off isolating waiting for test result to come back....

It could get interesting in this house ☹☹☹

So person at work tested positive. I've been in my bedroom since I got the message yesterday. We've been told to isolate & not to panic/ worry until we receive further guidance. Hopefully that will be today.

I feel fine, just a bit jittery but I think that's just they worry for Mum as obviously since being in contact with this person (4 days ago) I've sat downstairs with her.

Do you know who? The risk is variable depending on likelihood of contact. If it is Margaret who does the accounts and you can't remember the last time you spoke to her, the risk is minimal especially with good hand hygiene. If it was the person you share your workstation with but in PPE then it's higher. Highest is if you had lunch with masks off in a little staffroom with poor social distancing. Remember hand hygiene is key in many respects...

Yes. I was with her for 5 hours on Tues, then she came down with temp on Weds & obviously hasn't been in since. Even though we're in the same room at work I try stay away from her as much as possible as I know she is a bit lax with hand hygiene/meets all and sundry out of work. Obviously the children go from staff to staff in the room & I have been at work the rest of the week too.

I know I've done everything I can at work to try keep myself safe & others (hopefully). Nothing has changed at home either, still sit away from Mum, we both wash hands often, everything gets wiped down when we've been out etc.

We'll see. Just the wondering is sending me nuts. I don't want to panic when the heating is on & I get warm so I'm going to try to relax a bit.

Day 1 done. I've had a very lazy day & think I feel worse for it!

Had to turn my radiator down though as was boiling when heating was on. My radiator is massive for my small bedroom & usually I'm not really in it with the door shut. I have a bag of supplies & a to do list of things I can get done whilst stuck in here.

Well, I've caught something. Got a test delivered yesterday evening (and had to run downstairs myself to get it, thankfully nobody else was out of their flats at the time) but no point taking it til tomorrow morning. Whatever I've caught feels like a less intense sinusitis - the pressure from my upper Jaw to just behind my eyes is incredibly annoying (and painful!), along with general malaise, phlegmy nose and throat, and an on and off fever (and maybe a circulation issue - my chest and face being dead warm along with much colder hands) and an inability to regulate my temperature again.

It wouldn't matter anywhere near as much if I didn't have people coming daily for my meds and I keep having no way of letting them into the building without leaving my flat. Whoever thought this was a good idea is a moron and if I ever find out who it is I'll be sure to tell them that. Loudly.

*hugs* hope your test is negative and you feel better soon!

My 3 year old Granddaughter had a high temperature but tested Negative for Covid.

Her Mom then developed a temperature and cough, also tested Negative.

My Daughter is a Nurse and they are now being routinely swabbed every 5 days due to the rising Covid cases in the Hospital.

Feel better soon @Lorcan

All still well here. It's been 5 full days now since my contact with positive person, I'm hoping the chances of me developing symptoms are reducing but knowing my luck it'll be day 11 or something. I'm feeling tired due to not really doing much through the day & I had an afternoon nap yesterday that threw my sleep last night!

Take care all.

Sorry to be posting again but I've been procrastinating again whilst drinking tea and eating biscuits!

I've been reading about Boots supposedly launching a 12minute covid test. Surely if it was possible, these would be rolled out at all the covid sites & be much better to help the test/trace system than the current system of results in 1-3 days? Or am I making this more complicated & over thinking it?

I think that some of the fast tests have a really good fast result for one test at a time. But the testing that takes longer to do can take dozens of tests at a time. So actually at a grand scale, the slower tests are faster... if that makes sense! A super fast result would be so useful when it changes a clinical decision though but until you can get a heap of tests through super fast then it isn’t something that would be helpful for the thousands needed each day.

There were some inaccurate tests bought by governments around Europe early on. They were meant to be sold in drug stores for under 10 pounds. So it was put on hold until reliable tests could be made. You can now get instant test in Europe for 20 euros. I would much rather have that rather than waiting and having whole household income put under strain.

Help please can someone clarify something for me so I can send it to in laws! We are in tier 3 and the household in question has a covid positive member 🤦‍♀️
Sam's step mum wants me to take the kids on Halloween to stand on their drive and talk to them... It's a gated drive so pretty confident it isn't allowed in tier 3 not to mention there's 5 of us and 3 of them 🤦‍♀️ and one of them is covid positive, their isolation due to end midnight on Halloween but the rest of the household has another 4 days after that. How can I get out of this without sounding incredibly rude? I've already said no sweets to be given to the kids because they wanted to give them sweets 🤦‍♀️ 😣 anxiety in overdrive xx

Far as I know/understand households aren’t allowed to mix at all in tier 3, unless they’ve formed a bubble. And the rule of six still applies for outdoor meets. Could they perhaps call them every day and do a video call on Halloween itself? I can understand why you’re hesitant to go there, even if on the doorstep. What does your OH think?

He also thinks no way lol 😂 I've already said we aren't actually doing Halloween this year 😂 a video call I have no problem with, I actually encourage them to video call, they have only video called once since march on lexies birthday and stood across the street to drop presents off 😂 it's all a bit random to start now 🤷‍♀️

It’s good you’re in the same page. I would video call them every day this week (kids in half term) then every Saturday or Sunday once they go back to school.

No it's not allowed. You aren't allowed to meet in other people's homes or private gardens. Only in public spaces and then within the rule of 6

Thankyou I didn't think so! 😁 Not that I don't love my in laws just not the time for a catchup!

That's without someone testing positive. I personally think it's ridiculous to suggest putting your kids anywhere near a known risk

I hadn't thought of it like that at all & it makes complete sense. I suppose there will be situations a rapid test comes in useful though.

Eeek really! Where do you start with that one?! Just say no, video call & keep yourselves as safe as can be.

So do I! I know they miss them but I don't get it at all 🤦‍♀️

I know there is a lot of conspiracy theorists too and it's one thing to suggest to an adult to meet up when that adult is fully capable of making their own reasoned decision but to suggest meeting children is wrong. Why wouldn't you all isolate for the required time and make the suggestion after?

I agree 🤦‍♀️ they are isolating but I guess standing on their drive they didn't take into consideration, I've said no anyway! Awaiting the reprocussions 🙄 I'll tell them I'll stand at the end of their drive with the kids when the rule of 6 no longer applies and most importantly everyone is healthy! In the meantime they can facetime if they want to see them :)
