COVID-19 Coronavirus

I had a dentist appointment yesterday but my dentist would not touch and says I got to be referred to hospital ,not good with this corrivirus !

It’s pretty much all over the news in the US. President Trump and Cuomo talking about it make it more significant.
In France, there was a successful testing completed with malaria drug against COVID.
If Trump said it, I definitely don't believe a word of it ...

My dentist called today as I had a family appointment booked Tuesday, as I'm classed as high risk with my diabetes they've rearranged for June, said they weren't closed but I should be staying home for 12 weeks 😕

I think it's chloroquinine, the Chinese were using it, something to do with arracting more zinc into cells and impeding reproduction, it's toxic over time, there's some evidence it works to reduce severity, but it's all a bit wonky, at the moment there's some evidence for everything and some other evidence contradicting it.

Sky went to Wolverhampton and found a pub,

Table of two young chaps, apparently they have to support their local business, they're maintaining distance - by sitting six inches apart from eachother, apparently one of them works with 100 people, so it's safer for him in the pub. Apparently it's the government's fault for not physically stopping him at bayonet point. Same story from South London, one of them said people weren't taking it seriously enough and not maintaining distance - reporter did point out that they'd decided to go to the pub, it's fine apparently as they're in the smoking area, oh and it's the government's fault.

Dad recieved a message from a colleague, also in a pub, message reads **** you boris with a photo and a middle finger. I'm beggining to wonder if over the past 30 years our species has split into morlocks and eloi, and we've just not noticed.

Hoping everyone's ok today? It feels rough today generally. I'm getting tired of the endless fight for food for my parents, but I did get to the dentist. They were amazing, full barrier nursing, opened every door for me, wiped every surface I was touching, settled my mind immensely. Of course I'm still worried, but it was needed, so what else can you do.

As for the pubs, these idiots do realise they will enforce this ban and with it will come fines and prison sentences, just like in the rest of Europe? Eventually, it's not going to go well for people who flaunt these rules, other countries are charging people with criminal offences for needlessly infecting others in these ways...

Well, I have one less friend on FB today. Someone I have known since primary school. Forced to come back early from their holiday abroad due to Covid-19. So they decided to go out and about in their home town in restaurant for lunch and drinks in a pub saying that they were on Covid rebellion as it had ruined their holiday. And they work in a senior role in the NHS. I saw red.

I think I would have also seen red.... I went out this morning with my daughter (15) but she stayed in the car, had to get a few bits and collect a prescription and return some parcels - I am now in and not going out again!

Another tough day today, said "see you later" to some children knowing we might not as they are due to start school in Sept. Trying to help parents when we don't really know what is happening ourselves.

Thank you for the update @Falken I do appreciate it. I have limited myself to this forum & facebook.
Hopefully everyone will take social distancing seriously now & actually do it.

I have had to have a break from Facebook today... too much to take in ! Much prefer the forum!

Only been on Facebook twice & that is enough.

Feels like the black tunnel stretches ahead. Cases might have quadrupled, or the spread of it may have slowed, not sure I want to know.

The only positive thing is I feel completely well, it's Friday & I now have two whole days to get stuff done!

A friend sent me this earlier - it's worth sharing:

Lockdown (poem)
Yes there is fear.
Yes there is isolation.
Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness.

Yes there is even death.

But,

They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.

They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes

But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other across the empty squares, keeping
their windows open so that those who are alone may hear the sounds of family around them.

They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood so that the elders may have someone to call on.

Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples are preparing to
welcome and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary.

All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting.
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way.
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality.

o how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.

So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.

Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.

Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.

Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul

Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.

Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic

The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able to touch across the empty square,

Sing.
Thank you moderator

Heard today that supermarkets and other food stores are desperate for casual staff to fill shelves.
A young lady I know whose main income came from dog walking and whose clients had almost all cancelled is now working in our local Sainsbury’s
For those of you whose work has been hard hit this may be a possibility to explore

I have seen lots of places advertising for temporary staff in supermarkets for a few weeks... i was worried about my job but after todays announcements from Boris my boss can hopefully keep me on!

There’s also going to be a real shortage of seasonal staff this summer to pick all the fruits etc, so the farmers weekly have issued an appeal for British workers to help out Coronavirus: Urgent appeal for Brits to work on farms - Farmers Weekly
I was thinking about that earlier, what with travel bans on top of Brexit stopping seasonal workers coming from Europe. Perhaps instead of a staycation my family could go fruit picking ... bit like Londoners in the old days :))

look at your fur babies, take them in, breathe them in, look how calm and happy they are, they don't know all the 💩 happening in this world or the uncertainty of everything, to them it's another happy today ❤️ so if your feeling anxious breathe in their calm ❤️ we will get through this 💪
Sorry for the soppy post guys I just had a tearful moment with P 💖 the piggies think it's going to be the best few weeks ever with alll the small hoomans home slying them food 😂

It's funny you mention that, a girl at my place told my boss she went to the job centre to ask for help with money as my place aren't giving any hours to the zero contract workers and she was told she needs to find another job. I think the only plsces hiring at the moment moment are the supermarkets.

How about a toilet roll factory. Na hope she find anorher job, probably one of the worst times to look. I thought zero hours contracts got banned?

They were going to, but there was a lot of pushback from business and people that felt they benefit from the flexibility, it's a good idea if applied in the right area, and not used to subvert employment rights, which is what it's usually used for.

I'd like to not have to go out again but am having to trawl the shops everyday for food. Yesterday I got a cauliflower leaf (for the piggies) someone had left behind and a jumbo kitchen roll! The day before I got bacon which I gave to my neighbours today for their tea as they had had worse luck than me. Today's shopping trip resulted in zero, so I risked getting ill for nothing. The few tins I had are dwindling and the freezer is starting to empty. When did this Country become so selfish that a few people can strip shop shelves bare and leave nothing for others. We are going to make do this weekend and hope the situation improves next week. People who feel ill are not going to self isolate with no online food shopping to be had, I bet the people who have booked all the slots available are the same ones who have spare rooms full of stockpiled food.

Completely agree 100%, this is probably why official rationing needs to be enforced, perhaps formal drop off points, there's no shortage in the supply chain - but it's all being emptied out as soon as they can restock, and as the entire logistics fleet is having to replen every shop and critical industry, there just aren't enough drivers. To buy this much food must be pushing quite a lot of people in to quite a lot of debt, which isn't the best idea in the current financial climate. The other issue is of course that people have been abusing the 'elderly only' hour as there's a lack of security, really it's counterproductive to have the elderly bimbling down to the shops every morning, if they come back without enough to feed them, a lot of people are stepping up to make deliveries, but we had a problem with loneliness and isolation in that age group before this thing started, so there will be some without any other option.

Yea a certain sports shop got some trouble for it

Had a stressful evening this evening.I went to PaH to get some hay which was meant to be put by for me from a delivery as I bought 2 mouldy bags yesterday which I had to return-no hay:no: I then went next door to Lidl to get some veg for my piggie and bunny crew-no veg:no: I then went to my local Tesco to try there for some veg-temporarily closed!
I eventually found some veg elsewhere, went home, fed my lovelies and braced myself for tomorrows hunt! I can only buy for one day at a time as I have a few piggies and bunnies and I get "evils" and "tuts" if I get too much in one go.

Its getting harder to find what we need for ourselves and our piggies.
Rant over! Just needed to vent but I know we are all in the same boat.
Good luck sourcing what you need everyone

I have visions of all the food people are buying being thrown away when other's are going short. Some fruit and veg has a very short shelf life they can't possibly be eating it all!

They're largely going for the long life stuff, but it will all probably end up in landfill in the future, the milk can be frozen, but there wouldn't be enough room for it with all the frozen readymeals, the flour will last for a long time (not quite as long as it'll take them to actually learn how to use it), the yeast for a couple of months, the eggs will probably all go off in a few weeks. You can freeze most of the fresh stuff with the right approach, even bananas if you remove the skin first, and generally they're not going for the 5-a-day stuff.

I have the greatest sympathy for you, if we had the resources and the foresight (a lottery win at this point) we could have arranged some sort of piggie food bank, there's a bit of a shortage of wet dogfood as there's a bit of an urban myth that it has to be fit for human consumption, but most of it will just be the usual panic buying, I guess you could still try and get hold ofmixed frozen veg, the smaller local corner shops seem (not here anymore, but they are restocking) to be largely avoided by the mob.

Best of luck,

Reece.

Can you get to b and m or the range, the range are likely to have Timothy hay in stock and meadow. I hardly ever fail to find it at my local branch. My b and m is fully stocked with Timothy, so try your local 👍 pets at home is the last place I buy Hay, unless it's alfalfa King Timothy I want
