COVID-19 Coronavirus

So schools are closed on Friday until further notice & exams in May/June not to take place. I wonder where nurseries & under 5s fit into this?

Is there any positive news out there about coronavirus? Any tiny glimmer of hope?
At the moment .. I dont think so 😭😭😭

My parents are both 71 and are high risk so they are self isolating as of from today apart from a food shop when they run out of food. I’m going to miss them like crazy but it’s for the best :(

My husband is a teacher so we are all relieved that they’re shutting the schools here in the U.K. although I understand that’s bad news for some

I'm happy in a way school is shutting, they're still open for vulnerable children annd children of key workers, lexie will miss her friends but at least she will be safe xx

My early years provider is also closing from Friday, same guidence applies apparently

We are waiting for an update. Not sure how will work as a private nursery.

At the moment .. I dont think so 😭😭😭

😭 I wish they would give us something. Any tiny thing. It feels like there is no end to black hole.

To top it off, the local co-op is shutting tomorrow until further notice for re-stocking & cleaning. Good job we have food in already.

Today's news has just thoroughly hit me and I feel sad about everything.. I could loose my job if normal service cant be resumed after Easter .... trying not to worry and tomorrow is a new day and on the bright side I can have a lie in as no school for the kids...

Well I'm back home tomorrow to Northampton from my night shifts in Newport Wales, where I'm pretty much in self isolation in my hotel room, and working nights I'm not in physical Contact with many people atall, as I'm working outside. So I'm going to have to get used to being around more people Thursday and Friday. I want to go home but I'm much safer here!

I felt like I was on top of my anxiety again until today. I just want to stay at home & hide! Not least because I would get so much done.

I worry about all Debbie's dental pigs and needing ongoing treatment, like filing down and stuff. Horrible situation if there is a lockdown or the vets lockdown or get the virus
Yes dental pigs are a worry. I phoned Cat and Rabbit clinic because Lightning needs a spay and they said they're hoping to keep open. Guess things change.

They have children that are in school so, don't know what will happen from Friday now schools are closing. I guess they take it in turns to work, the 3rd vet looks over 70 so probably won't be there. She might not be that old though

So I had a lovely call from a locum vet about princess after I ordered her tramadol checking how she was etc said pain relief is more important than any worry of side effects (absolutely!) she's dispensed it so I can collect tomorrow and if I feel like she needs more or I'm worried about her just call up 😊 doesn't look like any disruption to normal services thank goodness! Plus I got to share how much better shes doing and that we've actually managed to wean her tramadol down on good days, there's days she needs more but she's doing so amazing at the moment it's lovely 💖 so in spite of today's worries etc I'm just so happy that this little piggy is doing amazingly 💖 she can stay on tramadol for as long as it's helping too since she's palliative 💖

I don't have the foggiest of ideas about the M1, I imagine it to be full of lorries delivering food and not half as many cars commuting. My bet is, you will be even better traveling now corona is here. The m6 was quiet on the way to Wales
You get everywhere 😁

Their children are old enough to be at home on their own and Patricia retired today!

I had a pet sit this weekend, that I really needed, but that has now been cancelled too! I pretty much have no job, no money but I have my health and my family are all okay too! It's really brought home to me just how vulnerable I am, being self employed!

Yes there is - social distancing works - we just need to tough it out and it will get better.
Look at case numbers in places who have strongly enforced shut downs - the case numbers plateau within a week to 10 days.
We can get it under control if we are all sensible and calm and work together.
It is an incredible time to be alive, and we all have a chance to be part of this truly huge event in world history.

Well said @Swissgreys

One day all this will be history and we will have survived it.
We may be challenged to think about our lifestyles and it may be tough for a lot of people but we may rediscover compassion and care for others.

I am so happy to see so much support for each other here - this is a light in the darkness

My favourite part of this forum is how non judgemental everyone is. This outbreak has set my anxiety back through the roof but I have been able to vent here... even if I haven't always agreed/understoo with the choices the PM has made.

No updates from work. Latest is they ate still no closer to answering the questions we have & will speak to us all tomorrow. I have a feeling we will stay open & be people like me (no children so not affected by school closures) still at work. We shall see.

Tomorrow is a new day hey. Take care all!

I agree up until now I have not been worried but seeing an emotional message from lexies teacher has hit me right in the feels 😢😢

Does anyone know if the cat and rabbit clinic are still operating as usual? Guiseppe is due a check up with Simon for the lump on his jaw, he's much better thankfully, it's not an emergency but just wondered if I'll be able to get an appointment?

I phoned this week as Lightning needs a spay and asked and they said they hope to carry on as normal

I sent you a donation yesterday. If I've got a bit of money spare near the end of the month, I'll send some more. It must be a very worrying time xx

Ive ordered tramadol they didn't say there were any special measures 😊

Glad you could get it all sorted. Your vet sounds lovely x
