COVID-19 Coronavirus

Ah, it's been a long week. 45 rolls of toilet roll (and it's scented too. WHO EVEN WANTS SCENTED BOG ROLL?! nobody, that's who), practising my breaking and entering skills to get a friend back into his flat, my flat being an assault course with double the furniture in it that I'm supposed to have, Tesco apparently running out of tobacco, and pondering daily about ringing my parents and making sure none of the family are ill. My sister works in the NHS, although not frontline, but still. Since I haven't spoken to her in around a decade I'd have to go through my parents to find out.

Is it wrong to want to self isolate just to give myself some headspace? I'm not at any massive risk, of either catching it or suffering badly from it, but the world's gone buck daft.

Your last paragraph. This week has pushed my anxiety, I think if someone would have offered me a bunker in the middle of a field for six months, I would have gone!

Lots of new things in place for work tomorrow, makes me a little happier that they are taking everyone's welfare seriously and putting safeguards in place. I feel vulnerable on the bus though...

Just have to work out if there is anything further I can do for mum now.

Multiple of the Asda’s near me are basically empty, everyone is stockpiling anything and everything, so that there’s barely any necessities for people who really need it.

Yeah I forgot to add the 12 hour domestic going on outside my windows last Sunday night - police were out at least 3 times, nobody hurt though. Well, maybe some pride, but that's it.

Psychiatry here are doing telephone appointments only at the moment unless it's life or death, but I have to go into my GPs surgery on Friday for an injection and I'm not looking forward to it.

We more usually go Sainsbury's in Canley but we use both. I go to Bannerbrook for my piggy supplies.
👍 I've seen that Sainsbury's while trying to get to the Costco - the dual carriageway kept catching me out the first few times I went there 😡 - but not tried it yet for my shopping. I noticed the Bannerbrook pets on my way home recently, having seen it online, nice to know there is a good pet shop so close to home.

Yeah, it is really complicated around there!
I get my meadow hay from there; they are sourcing it locally. The hay quality can vary a bit but is generally good to decent; and I have never had a problem with hay mites. I'd rather support a local business that doesn't involve lots of transport.

Tell me about it, my shops don't even have a pizza.

Maybe you should all come round to my house, I have 3 frozen pizzas, a bag of pasta, ingredients for 4 veggie curries, 12 bottles of wine, 160 tea bags, 14 toilet rolls, 4 red peppers, 3 cucumbers, 20kg of hay... and 8 gorgeous guinea pigs :)

I mean I make a great guest, I don't even need a bed to sleep on!

How near to Newport are you?

The whole atmosphere brought about by the media and panic buying mania etc is actually making a very serious situation much worse. Its causing worry among children too. Children pick up vibes from adults even if the adults around them are careful about what they say and do. They may not always be able to express their worries. A friend of mine had this brought home to her when her 4 year old asked "Mummy what will happen to us?" with tears in her eyes, as she was climbing into bed the other night. Her Mum reassured her of course and is trying to ensure she is even more careful about what information her daughter is exposed to but it is very difficult

Aw that poor little girl. My 10 year old just said coronavirus is like the monster under the bed, you know it can't get you but it's scary.

This is what makes me embarrassed to be British, the pure selfishness and greed. The inability to consider others needs at a time of crisis.

So I saw someone post this eBay screenshot today. Normally this baby formula is £12.99 in Boots. Companies aren't allowed to offer formula on deals etc as it encourages formula feeding over breastfeeding. However, not sure if there are rules about charging so much for it. People have stockpiled it when they don't need it themselves to sell on eBay for £30-45! Boots are currently sold out, as are many supermarkets. I am planning on breastfeeding but if there is any reason why I can't it does look like I'm going to have to pay 3 times the price to be able to feed my baby.

Man phoned in to my local radio today saying he'd been to 4 shops and not got formula. Really feel for them.

I'm hoping that those who have bought stuff planning to make a stinking profit by selling it on, end up with it blocking their bathrooms and kitchens for months to come because in the end no-one runs out completely.

Well worth coming to yours, just for the 8 pigs! 😍

This is truly disgusting behaviour! I have just read -unsure if 100% accurate - that if you are unable to find formula for your baby - a pharmacy can order it you... like I said not 100% as it was on Facebook 😳.. fingers crossed breastfeeding will go ok for you - things dont always go to plan so it must be worrying.. my daughter was poorly when born & I couldn't b.feed her.... cant imagine not being able to buy formula due to t**ts!
