Chester

Chester, being a border terrier, needs his coat hand stripping not cutting. You actually have to pull his fur out with your fingers. It’s sounds harsh but it doesn’t hurt him at all.

Anyway once I have some of his fur I spread it around the garden and the birds come and collect it to use in their nests. It’s so sweet to see them with a fur moustache.

We shaved Doug yesterday, whilst it's not the "done thing" for a border, striping him has become such a stressful thing for everyone it was better to get the clippers out! He's not a show dog and neither of us need the stress 😬 he looks so puppy like again!
Hi gorgeous Doug. 😍

I used to use scissors on my old Border Eddie as once they get to a certain age they don’t hand strip so easily.

Doug is 9 now but it's got progressively harder to hand strip him for the last couple of years. It's interesting how it varies between them too as Bert was always the more difficult to do even when his coat was obviously ready to come out, Doug was always the easiest. I used to find it quite satisfying but now it's just stressful!
Still contemplating adding another to the family.

It’s a big decision. You’ll know when it’s the right time.
