Bladder treatment

So sorry. Just very stressed. He's worse than ever tonight. When doing a poo as well, but last night, nothing. I've changed nothing. Is this me & my anxiety?

Please don’t apologise. We are here to support you.

As we don’t have access to your piggies it is not possible for us to say either way with certainty.
We know he has bacteria in his urine. The antibiotics should be dealing with that particularly given the length of time he has been/will be on them.
A UTI will usually cause pain but he is on a good dose of painkiller.
The noises in the videos don’t scream extreme pain to me though. Difficult for us to judge it completely though.

How quickly do stones develop? I'm worried now, that one has been missed on the scan in February

They can develop within weeks.
It’s possible for stones to be missed - wrong angle, too small.

Your only way to answer this is to have another scan/x ray done.

I agree, its not extreme pain, but quieter wheeking everytime tonight when doing pee, poo. I've put him back in the cage, & he's already done it 3 times. I'm really finding this very difficult to deal with. Last night he was absolutely fine! I'm on my own, 1st time piggie owner. I'm ready ring vets on Wednesday, & request a call back,, but at the same time, I can't keep paying out, if its my anxiety exaggerating things

It always seems to be worse between 6pm & 10pm. Just do know anymore 😢😢

Is it around that time pain meds are starting to wear off?
Are you with them in the hours in the morning while pain meds are wearing off? If it is related to pain meds wearing off, then the same thing would/should be occurring in the morning hours as well while they are wearing off.

The only other thing I can think is are you around them more at the time? If you’re busy during the day they may be making those noises then as perfectly normal noises but you’re missing them because you’re doing other things. You’re then sitting down with them of an evening and tuning into noises which may just be normal piggy noises

Right, this is 2 days off. I give him his pain relief around 8am. There's hardly anything all day. He has his 2nd dose about 7ish.ive slept on sofa, & from 10ish, nothing all through the night. I did this only few times just to monitor him. Tonight, he had his pain relief at 7.40. He's still squeaking. But what puzzles me, there was absolutely nothing from him all yesterday & evening, & night until I went to bed at 10. After that, who knows.

Squeak in alot of pain tonight, & passed a little blood again 😢 I don't know what to do. He has another 10 days of antibiotics/pain relief to go,, or should I ring vets Tuesday?

Yes ring them on Tuesday. He has already been on antibiotics for a long time so if they are going to work then they should be already helping.

Its really upsetting me now, hearing him. At least I know now, it is pain. Jyst don't understand why metacam not working, but then again, he had his 2nd dose only 45mins ago.

He isn't hunched when he pees & he's peeing freely, so hopefully not a stone in his urethra.

It doesn’t sound like it is. (A blocked urethra is a life threatening emergency and needs immediate vet attention at any time of day or night).

Is it definitely blood?

I had a piggy last August who started squeaking with peeing and pooping. Then peeing a little blood. Off to the vets we went and he had a stone.

Maybe he needs a different antibiotic?
Maybe he has a stone that wasn’t seen last time?

Also I had another piggy on strong antibiotics for 6 weeks with an abscess. So long term antibiotics are ok.

I feel your stress. It’s so sad seeing them in pain.

Good luck. You are doing all you can.

Hope to god its not a stone. I'm very worried now! 😥😥

His wee smells fishy tonight as well

Obviously I’m not saying it is a stone. Just sharing an experience. Don’t worry. Keep going until you call the vets.

His wee smells fishy tonight. Is that infection? He's been on Sulfratrim, & now Baytril. Baytril worked first time, but it came back, & obviously not working now

I thought Percy had fishy pee too. This was a few months before his stone. But his wee tested normal at the time for infection so I think maybe that’s ok.

So, please tell me what happens, if it is a stone. Just want to prepare myself. My problem is lack of money. I only have £400 at the moment

Please don’t worry yourself at this point.
You need to get in touch with your vet and see what they say.
He is on antibiotics so any infection should be being dealt with.

A stone would need surgical removal in a boar.

Please don’t worry. Keep doing what you’re doing and talk to your vet when they are open.

I am worried though, because I don't have a great deal of money. If they mention another scan or x ray, which is the best, more accurate one to have? I cannot afford both

When he peed a bit of blood last night, (the photo below), this morning, its dried orange. Is it blood then? I'm very inexperienced at this.

Percy had a scan. I don’t know which is best or cheapest. Have a chat with the vets. They will be able to advise you.

Hi how long roughly, does it take for you to get the results of a urine culture? Squeaks urine was taken to the vets on Wednesday morning, then will be sent to a lab. Thanks

I am not sure. I guess if it’s outsourced then it could be a few days. Did they give you a time frame or say they would call you or were you told to call back?
