Betsy's Guinea Pigs

Dear Miss Bramble,
Our slave has never been rude about our feet which we think are very cute feet.
We find a generous gift of wee and poop helps matters along.
This is even better if you can actually wee in your slave’s hand.
That would teach her not to be rude about you.
Love from Micah and Ruth

I have had to change the Vet Practice that my piggies go to. All the guinea pig savvy vets have left and as I understand it so have a few others. I'm thinking is it the rats leaving the sinking ship? Anyway I took this as a bad sign and have changed to one that has been highly recommended to me by my local Guinea Pig Rescue where I adopted Misty and Bramble from. It's a bit further away in Upton rather than being 5 minutes down the road. I have registered them there but have not had cause to use them yet. I don't think I'll worry about the notes being transferred over because Misty and Bramble have only been to the vets once for a check over when I adopted them and Thea has only been about 5 times in the 2 years that I've had her.

It’s so annoying when you can’t go to the vets so close anymore isn’t it! Hopefully the new place will be worth the extra travel time!

A wise choice I think.

I would travel too, to get to a good vet who understands piggies.
Good move there Jacky

I have just registered with a very good exotics vet in Falmouth who was recommended by Maria’s Animal Shelter. They take all their serious cases to him. Kiki had a UTI a few weeks ago and Paul Hall sorted it out with AB’s very quickly, he also prescribes dog metacam which is a bonus. He is the resident vet for Paradise Park and has looked after all their animals for 10 years

Really friendly and sounded very knowledgeable, keen and interested, I was really impressed. It brings a sigh of relief that I have found someone I feel that I can trust.

It does make such a difference.
My favourite vet, Laura, isn’t a guinea pig specialist but she’s very experienced and willing to learn. She’s also very good with the piggies.
The practice also has a new manager, a vet from Birch Heath who is an exotic specialist. I’m very impressed with him too.

I've decided I'm not going to put Thea in the run anymore except for clean out days. She doesn't want to go in there, she doesn't enjoy it when she's in the run and every time I walk in the garage during the day, she asks to go back in her hutch. She's an old gal now and likes her home comforts. She's 7 in January. As she's got into her dotage she has got more of a diva, knows what she wants and makes it very clear.

I admire that girl ❤️ you go for it Thea and you have a wonderful slave that knows what you’re asking 🥰
Enjoy your retirement beautiful Thea 🥳

I put a new Carrot Cottage in the run this morning as an early Christmas Present for Bramble and Misty (they made me do it!) and they had fun with it all day. Then I put in the hutch tonight for Thea to enjoy. Thea abandoned her veg, went straight to the Carrot Cottage and started chewing it. This has to be a first! She never leaves her veg for ANYTHING.

I've had a lovely cuddle with The One and Only Thea of The Funky Fringe.

I weighed her (948g), checked her over (1 mat cut off), cleaned her eye, gave her some coriander for being a good girl and letting me check her then we had a cuddle. She's never been a cuddly piggie but she enjoyed cuddletime this morning. Then she went in the run for the 1st time in a week as she doesn't like being in the run but seemed to enjoyed the change of scenery and a different breakfast room. I've cleaned the hutch out and she'll go back in her nice clean hutch tonight. At nearly 7 she's not doing too bad.

Don't be surprised if you can't find Thea after my visit in July. There might be a bit of pignapping going on. :inn:

Hopefully Thea will make it to July then so you can meet her. (I said meet - not piggynap!) She's 7 in a couple of weeks. But no piggy will be leaving this house in your piggynapping bag, deep pockets, hidden pockets in your underwear or anywhere else a piggy may be hidden!

Let me think about the possibilties of hiding piggies in the underwear. :)):)):hmm:
