Betsy's Guinea Pigs

Both Misty and Bramble have lost weight, a bit too much for my liking. Bramble should be gaining weight, not losing it as she is still a baby. I have taken account of the fact that it's getting colder so they will lose a bit anyway. I'm weighing them every day to keep an eye on it. I have just ordered some Emeraid off Amazon which will arrive tomorrow and I'll start topping them up in the evenings. Thea, on the other hand is maintaining her weight nicely. They all have exactly the same diet, so something is going on with the other two. They have an appointment next Thursday with the vet.
 
Hope they gain weight soon and it’s nothing serious

My lot have put on weight while away for 15 nights at Maria’s apart from Posh. She really doesn’t like change and always loses weight. It’s coming back on now though nice and steady

:oops: As I was so anxious about the loss in weight of Misty and Bramble yesterday, I mistakenly ordered Emeriad IC instead of Emeraid Sustain, is there much difference between them?
 
I did that once. I think IC is for animals that are not eating and has more nutrients in it. Sustain is more of a top up, not so rich. I don't think the IC will hurt, maybe don't feed as much as you would the sustain. I'd daily weigh and check they aren't piling on too much weight too fast.

Thanks. I was just going to give them a couple of mls anyway as a bit of a top up so I'll give them 1ml each instead.
 
I have cancelled the vets appointment for Misty and Bramble on Thursday. After a few nights on oats and grated carrot, and a Snugglesafe each they have regained the weight they lost. I think the change in the weather affected them. I never did have to give them any Emeraid after all. At least I have it in now if I do need to use it.

That’s great news! I think it does take extra calories to keep warm but once they have settled to the cooler temperatures they’ll use less

Emeraid IC is just really fine, I ordered by mistake too and added it to the normal Emeraid

Glad they are acclimatising to the colder weather.
 
My Slave tried to cut my nails today. I let her cut the nails on my back feet but I wasn't happy, then she attempted to do my front feet. I would have let her but she said that I had Hobbit feet! What is wrong with hairy feet? The very cheek! How very dare she! Well, as I was so unhappy about this comment that I nipped her. (Tessy @Viennese Furbabies you would have been very proud of me!)

Here at the GPU we don't condone nipping but do realise in certain circumstances it is necessary.

Dear Miss Bramble,
You don't need to nip. All you need to do is wriggle and scream like you are being murdered and the daddy slave will be so upset that you only get one foot done at a time.
I think your hairy feet are beautiful ❤️ how dare they call you a hobbit.

I like to scream, wiggle & nip for nail cutting. I once distracted slave with a broken tooth, she didn’t even try and cut my nails that time.
This week somehow slave managed to do 3toe nails, not her usual one, there may have been coriander on offer.
Good luck avoiding the nail clippers.
