I’m awake. I’m never awake at this time. I go to bed at 9pm. But today my dog Chester got castrated and he won’t lay down with the plastic post-op collar on. So I’ve got to stay awake to make sure he doesn’t lick his wounds. 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Sending Chester healing vibes, what a pickle he is. Lie down and go to sleep Chester! I hope you can get some sleep soon. If I lived closer I'd do a Chester watch for you, I rarely sleep before 2am these days.

You can get post surgery suits for them too. It's what we used from archer and does stop them getting to the area overnight. We picked one up on Amazon though I know others who cut feet our of babygros for small enough dogs

Have you ever had to have your ears syringed?
No, ears related things go through me too so would be interesting. They have returned to normal this morning so I'm hoping they were reacting to how very loud it was at work yesterday.

Glad it’s gone now. Hopefully was just the loudness.

I have had my ears syringed several times. The doctor was surprised first time I had to have it done. I was in my 20s. Guess my ears just like to build up wax!

I used to get excess wax build up in my ears when I was young. I had to got to an ENT to get them cleaned out with a little wire scoopy-thing ... if there was too much or it was too hard, they'd have me soften it with peroxide for a week before my cleaning appointment. (We'd pour a bit in, wait a few seconds, then I'd dump it out as much as possible.) Messy and weird sounding, but it worked ... I wouldn't recommend it without a doctor's instruction, though.

The first time it happened, I tried putting in drops but even they didn’t soften it enough. The doc struggled to clear it the wax was so hard. They used water for me on all occasions. Luckily (touch wood) I’ve not had to do it since shortly after covid. I usually keep some drops around but problem is once opened they have a shelf life.

Seem to have misplaced/ not received correspondance of laptop care & repair plan that I renewed in April. Laptop is behaving but I've been updating my insurance documents folder and went to put it in and I don't have it.

I know I did it but don't seem to have proof I did it and if it didn't go through properly and its not insured I will be very annoyed!

Did you do it online and/or receive the documentation via email, perhaps?

:agr: It’s usually done online and sent to email nowadays.

I did it online and it said thanks for renewing you will receive your document within 28 days (or something to that effect). I've got the date I did it because I have it written on the renewal reminder as I always do and usually I take a photo on my phone to prove I did it but I've looked and can't find the photo.
I get postal communication from them and haven't got any for new one and I've been through my emails and nothing there either. I've not checked bank statements yet.

I have this awful feeling that for some reason it didn't go through properly and I'm not covered. Then I'm annoyed that I didn't keep a better check on it. Its just adding to the pity party I'm having today.

Contact them by email (or online chat) and see what they come back with.

Our house is having its exterior repainted and the scaffolders came today. Well, they've put up a platform right outside our bedroom, and now both sides of our window will only open about 1-2".

For added context, I married a furnace and we always have at least one window open at night from around March-October. We also live in what is essentially a granny annexe in a warren of extensions and there are no other windows on our side of the stairs.

It is stuffy as hell in here; it's going to be a fun two weeks. Thanks, guys. :help:

They do seem to be a breed all of their own. We've had scaffolding twice this year. First time we couldn't open the kitchen window for 3 weeks, second time anyone over 5.5 foot tall had to duck to get out the back door.
I hope you manage to get some sleep.

People who allow their dogs to poop on our front garden and don't clean it up. :vom:
Dog owners who don't clear up after their mutts are bad enough but that really is maddening 🤬
In our previous house, a passing dog owner took advantage of bins being out to drop a poop bag in - annoying anyway, but even more so as the bins had already been emptied so it stayed there making a stink for a whole week.

It's happening on a regular basis. If I lived anywhere else I'd put up a sign asking people to clean up after their dog. Here that's an invitation to shove it through the letter box. We had that with the dustbin too. I used to pick it up and put it in the bin but even tied up tight in a couple of bags it stinks. There's a drain in the road a few doors down so it goes in there now minus the bag.

Ugh. I wanted an early night and instead I'm stuck here babysitting the damn computer because it claimed there was only 1GB of files needing sorted on Disk Clean Up. I knew it was more than that and the speed this is taking proves it. And I can't vape because I need the door open lol.

Didn’t feel great leaving work today. The morning went pretty well for most of the children but the meeting after school left me feeling down, and like a fraud. I’m trying to shake it off, it’s going slowly. Hopefully tomorrow goes well…

One bad day/partial day does not define you or your career

@Siikibam I 100% agree on this. I've met some absolutely awful teachers and I don't have to have seen you teach to know you're not one of them.

In other news I had a shower. I've lathered my hands in Cetraben and Working Hands since getting out. I can't get my hands to stop having that dry/tight pain to them. I hate skin sometimes.

Isn't that the truth. I bet no bad teacher has ever doubted their ability or considered themselves a fraud.

We all have bad days. There are days that things go far from ideal, that make us cry and want to quit. It's what we can do with those days, how we can use them to learn and how we heal from these days that count. I have to say that last time things went horrendous I just held my hand up and said "I dropped the ball with a contract and now we are tied in for another year. I know how I did it but that's irrelevant, I know what not to do next time". Not easy to admit to the manager when we have had a 10% funding cut across the project which has meant some loss of advice staff. It wasn't a huge bill but that's besides the point and I felt awful.

Thank you @Lorcan and @Lady Kelly 😊
@Lorcan sorry about your skin. What do you use to wash? Can you use cetraben as a wash, for your hands? Don’t know if it’s an emollient or lotion.

Hope it eases soon, must be horrible.

It's a lotion, but the problem isn't my shower gel, it's actually my shampoo - which is prescription and does an excellent job of drying out my scalp because that's really useful for the psoriasis lesions...causes a bit of a problem on my hands though, lol. And then there's the topical steroids for the chest...but washing my hands only dries them out more. It'll pass eventually, it's eczema on the hands right now which isn't my norm (and that's good, because it means it'll clear) but y'know. Stress.

I'm more worried about how the skin on my chest is coping, because it really isn't coping at all.

Have you ever used any of simple's range? I use their face wipes cos any other wipes I've tried irritate my skin and don't work as well to remove make up (if you use make up like me lol).I've tried their shampoo, body wash and moisturiser too and I've never had any reaction.Theyre cruelty free,They do a handwash too.Simple contains a lot of good ingredients which are good for the skin.

Not for a while, but I remember having similar issues with Simple back when I did. Truth be told I don't think it's a soap/shower gel/handwash problem, I think it's something about soap/shower gel/handwash + water, and there's no skipping the water part. It's the same reason I wash my clothes at 30°, anything more and my skin starts to gripe.

Is it possible to try a different steroid on your chest? Is it psoriasis or eczema? How long and how often are/have you used the steroid? If it’s not working they should review. And you should go back too. It’s a pain but…are you under dermatology or GP? Sorry for so many questions, ignore if you prefer 😁
