What made you happy today?

A belated Christmas present from the Guinea pigs 😉 made me happy today ...

I guess it got delayed in the post, but the piggies must have acquired a very powerful contactless cardreader in order to use my husband's credit card and order it from their hutch 😁
I had that sweater from the guinea pigs as well!

Just had a lemon filled doughnut. I was sick the past two days and it was my first decent food. I regret nothing.
I’ve been off my food for a couple of week after catching flu before Christmas. lost half a stone in the process but I did enjoy Christmas nuts for some strange reason 😆

Okay, so more of a week in review rather than what's made me happy today, but -

1. Went on my first ever spa day (Christmas present from my husband). A few technical issues almost cancelled play but we pressed on and I'm so glad we did.
2. I have a longstanding tradition of buying a matching scratchcard/lottery ticket if the person in front of me at the till buys one, and this week I won a tenner.
3. Had first haircut since March (😱)

December was exhausting thanks to Christmas and that flu-ey bug that knocked so many people out, and it has been lovely to recoup a bit.

Lost 3lbs. After a rubbish 2022 where I decided cake and wine were a mandatory requirement, I promised myself I wouldn't get any heavier in 2023. Been 'good' all week and I'm down the initial Christmas stodge.

I know it's not all about numbers on a scale but I'd like to lose another 4-5lbs so I'm back to the weight I was before my op this time last year.

2 exercise classes booked in this week, and the piggies are well chuffed that the fridge is bulging with fruit and veg. 😂

I spent two hours alone with my mum who has late stage dementia. It’s was lovely. I managed to wash and dry her hair and change her clothes. She really seemed to like me helping her. 😍. It’s made me really happy.

For the last few weeks, when I go into the garage in the morning, or veggie time or at bedtime I have been greeted by excited "boing boinging" and general chatter by Lexi and Thea. Tonight, at vet time I got the "boing boinining" and general chatter along with the a quiet excited wheek wheek! I'm so happy. Apart from on one occasion, I've never heard either of them wheek at all. The do talk to me now and I can usually tell them apart.

Finally got my PC set up again after the major furniture reshuffle for the new pig cage at the end of November (!) :D My interactions with the real world will probably still be sporadic at best, but it's so good to be looking at things on a decent-sized screen again. I don't know what it is, but there's something about sitting at my desk that makes me feel more human and not 'just' Mum - probably because I spent so much time here before the small one arrived.

Now... baby is asleep (for now), husband is out getting takeaway, beer is poured, and I'm going to see about playing some games until bedtime.

Not to jinx the day my dentist appointment was over and done with little stress. Teeth fine, keep doing what I'm doing, check up in 6 months. Quite proud that at my age, I have no fillings and all my own teeth (and extra wisom ones!)

My son has a spot at one of the nicer nurseries in the area! 🥳 The sessions available are spot on as well - just what I'd hoped for.

Now to spend the next three months adjusting to the idea of leaving my baby with strangers 😱 And starting to list all the things I need to get done in those two afternoons off a week... :))

You get to go to some nice places for your work 😀
I do. It’s tough but someone has to do it 😀

We had a great retreat, excellent work sessions, time to chat, relax and indulge a bit.
Some of us walked into Ambleside yesterday afternoon and forced ourselves to go into a wonderful cafe called The Apple Pie.
Their speciality is …..apple pie which is delicious.

Moving rather than happy but when I went to pick up a new bottle of Loxicom for Priscilla the receptionist at the vets was putting a small electric tea light and sign at the reception desk.
“If this candle is lit it means someone is saying goodbye to a beloved pet.
Please be respectful and talk softly.”

I just thought that was so lovely

They do this at the cat and rabbit clinic too.I thought it's a very nice and respectful thing to do.

They do this at my vets too. It made me cry harder when they lit it for Meg.

Obsessed with Shania Twains new album - the half of it I've been listening to on repeat anyway! (I do this strange thing where I listen to half until its in my head then start on the rest of it.)

It's Sunday, the sun is shining, and my whole family is home.
We are all about to go out for a walk and grab a coffee by the lake.
This is a big deal to me because my youngest is at boarding school in England, and my eldest has a pretty full on social life, so having everyone together doesn't happen often.
