The Beastie Boys

Mischievous Master Boris frightened the life out of me. He was enjoying one of his chinny rubs, as usual he seemed to go into a bit of a trance. Normally a lil nosey boop brings him back but earlier he remained "frozen"! Another boop on his nose and still no reaction..... So he was sitting with his head back, mouth hanging open and eyes glazed over ......no reaction!
This went on for so long that I was starting to worry that he'd had a stroke or some kind of neurological catastrophic episode..... called hubby over and tried another nose boop..... suddenly he was back with us, looking at me like he was saying "what's all the fuss? Stop staring at me"

On a serious note, I've just found out that our new house has a water softener. Am I still ok to give the boys this water filtered?

I have a water softener too and don’t use this water for the piggies or my plants.

I have a three way tap in the kitchen. Softened hot water, softened cold water and cold normal hard water.

I filter the normal hard water for piggies/ plants.

I’m not sure what the rules are but I didn’t want to risk giving it to them as it goes through salt water.

Hope that makes sense.

The boys had the piggy equivalent of a takeaway last night, a bag of bistro salad. Grated beetroot and mixed chard leaves along with some added red pepper gave Master Boris a slightly pink hue for a while.
Dignified Sir George has made it through another course of antibiotics without any loss of appetite or weight and Master Boris has been very obliging about providing him with some extra probiotics.
Tomorrow they are going to be temporarily downsizing in preparation for the last bits of packing for the move on Tuesday. When we get there, they will be staying at sister in laws house for a couple of days until we are sorted enough to set up the palace. They will still be allowed to free roam there. She's only up the road so we will still be looking after them. I just hope their bond survives the disruption.

Good old hubby, dug out the starter cage and it's actually a 120. Bless him as he asked for the biggest one they had instead of the one they said was ok when he bought the piggies.
I know it's still too small but it's going to be left open, will have their hammocks in and their carrier lined with fleece next to it as well as two comfy beds nearby.

So far the boys have been fine in their temporary accommodation, just the occasional grumble because they're getting in each others way a bit but no aggression.
I feel like all the disruption will either break or cement their bond.

I'm sure they'll sort it out like true British gentlemen; cuss each other out, a bit of shoving and then reconcile over a pint.

Boys are managing well in the studio apartment. They seem closer than ever. We will set them up in a(nother) temporary later, 5x2 but no penthouse. We thought about getting all of our rugs cleaned but decided to wait until we moved and the boys had settled.we put one down in the dining room and they enjoyed floortime last night after a minute or two of hanging around by my feet.
We moved to this house without having seen it! Sister in law came and looked for us. It's actually bigger than we expected which is a huge relief. Extra grids are arriving today and we have the tape measure and notebook out. Any ideas about how we can work out a way for them to get in and out of a raised set up? The previous palace was based on floor level but with various and assorted ailments the cleaning was too much for us.

Glad the Beastie Boys are doing well in the new temporary abode - and that you're happy with your new place 😀

How far off the floor is the new cage going to be? I wonder if a concertina tunnel might work, though you might need to put support under part of it if it is stretched out quite a long way.

Thank you. So far the plan is looking like a 5x2 with a 2x2 annex. We are looking for a dresser to put part of it on and will be using grids to support the rest, so 70cm/28in high. We're looking at a way to have 2 ramps with a landing so nothing will be too steep. We want to use as much under the cage storage as possible.

Congratulations on your move and your new home - I’m sure you will all be very happy there 🥰

Boys are definitely much happier now that normal service has nearly been resumed. They've been brilliant and Sir George has been ultra tolerant of his boisterous companion getting in the way and being a bit snippy.
Correx bases and cuddle cups arriving on Monday and we are deciding whether to get them a couple of lofts. XL hay tray will be back in later. I'm loving having them higher up, been sitting in the kitchen chatting to them when they are at the bars.IMG20240215203413.webp

Next to the fridge?! That's a bold choice. You won't be able to get away with anything now.

I eat in the same room as the piggies so have to bring bribes to placate the piggies if I'm eating anything they would like, but I can get away with opening the fridge ( 2 rooms away) because I can pretend it was only to put milk in my tea.
