Survivors Group Therapy

Hi survivors! Just found this thread.

Both of us have been through difficult times.

Ophelia here. We have both had hay pokes but my first one was probably the most stressful for all of us. I think it happened just after Bianca had started popcorning, which was initially concerning for the hoomans but then a joy, but that's another story. They made a mistake by leaving Bianca at home when they took me to the only open vet, and I was given an injection as that was a painkiller that would work sooner. I screeched so loudly that you could hear it from the waiting room. Extra slave screeched even louder (but internally) at the bill.

Bianca here. I am causing my hoomans stress, first with cysts, now with an inoperable tumour. They don't know how long I'll live but all I know is that I'm no longer in pain and yummy painkiller is served alongside food. The slaves are finally giving us more! They say that they're spoiling us but that's nonsense, of course. I also like playing hide and seek tag beforehand, of course. It's good fun and we know that they wouldn't grab us. They just follow us around.
"Extra slave screeched even louder (but internally) at the bill" 😲😄

Hi everyone, Chez here. I've never had an illness but mom usually works evenings but today she had a day shift. I got my cookie when she got home but I had to let her know I missed her by wheeking for several minutes after. Stripe joined in. I was just so upset she wasn't there today. But I survived.

Hi everyone,

Looks like mom increased my veggies a little too soon yesterday, my stool was soft again. I'll be getting benebac again and maybe just coriander.

Chez was letting mom know again how he didn't like her day shift by making wheeking sounds that sound a little different to wheeking for food. I joined in because he was.

We're really active right now because it's dusk, we're having a blast diving in our hay.

Hi Survivors! It's my turn to get a treatment. This morning mom noticed my eye is a little cloudy. Dr Cervantes isn't available till Monday, but they worked me in before mom goes to work Monday.

Emergency doesn't have an exotic on duty this weekend.

I'm really nervous for the appointment and mom's even more nervous about giving me eye drops. I'm just not into handling and I'll probably put up a fight. Mom says any tips welcome.

Chesney

Dear Chesney,
We are sorry about your eye and hope it gets better soon.
Our slave says that one of our predecessors had a nasty haypoke once and needed eye drops. He used to wait until she was just ready to put the drop in then closed his eye tight.
He thought it was a good game.
You might like to play it with your slave too.
Love from Moses and Miriam

Dear Chesney,

I have had many haypokes and the evil eye drops that go with them. I agree with Moses and Miriam that closing your eyes just as the drops go in is a very fun game

My slave says that having tasty veggies handy to keep me distracted, then gently pulling down my bottom eyelid and squeezing the drop in is the easiest way he’s found. Also having a second person to handle if I’m being difficult (not that I’m ever difficult, I am a charming piggie)

I used to be very nervous and shy about being handled. My slave used to wrap me up in a towel or my favourite snuggle sack so I felt protected while he gave me meds and that helped me feel safe. Now I like to chill out across his lap and play the closing-eye game for each eye drop session

I hope you feel better soon, if you co operate your eye will feel much less sore soon and you’ll get tasty treats out of it

Dear survivors,

this weekend we had guests at home. I love having people over, because they think I'm such a big and beautiful boy and gives me treats. Grand-slave gave me a very nice ball. I pretend I'm a lion; first I attack the ball, chew it hard and then I eat it.
Then the sister-slave wanted to cuddle me. Or so I thought. But she said I cannot be a Guinea pig and started to exam my body for food-sources. She told be I had beef-cheeks, big sized fillets and my bumm could feed a village. I peed on sister-slave and ran away from her. She didnt give me any treats!

That was very rude of her

Hi Kongo, I'm a toy boy, too. Do you nap midday like us?

I was napping and occasionally lifted my butt to let some poop out. I couldn't be bothered to get up.

I'm wheeking now.

Hello Stripe,

My naps are so important that I have a schedule;
5-6am; hay-time
6-7am: nap in the hay-box
7am: cucumber
7:10am: nap in the house
10am: hay-time
10:15am: nap
10:30: change nap-place from house to bedroom
10.30am-13pm: hay-time. If some slave are at home I want a snack, like a bell pepper or carrot
13pm: nap in the hay-box
14pm: nap in the house
15pm: sometimes little slave and grandslave comes. I love grandslaves. I get so much snacks!
15.30-17pm: food-coma in bedroom
18pm: cardio in the gym (free-roaming)
19.30pm: cuddle-box with slave. Nap.
21pm: more gym. And some napping in the gym. Like anywhere.
22.30: slave tells me to go home. I get new hay, water and pellets. I eat until food-coma hits me.

Do you have a nap-schedule, Stripe? Slave says something about schedule my toilet, but... I'm like you. Why bother when you need to nap? My neighbours are just like me.

Well I'm active and popcorn a lot at dawn then I munch hay till around 10 and me and Chez go down for a nap till around 1 or 2. Slave does her homework while we nap. Sometimes she's at work. If she's home she spends time with us but we nap again till around 4 then since it's dusk time we popcorn again.

Unfortunately mom has to call it a night with us at around 5:30 pm because the cat wakes up and he scratches our door at that time. It scares us so mom says goodnight to us but we're still really active but we don't see her again till dawn.

But mom sometimes works at a bookstore, 4 days a week and then we just wait for her.

I have a tiny little sore on my foot. Mom's going to clean my cage, clean my foot, put some SSD cream on me after her zoom meeting. If it's not better by tomorrow I have a spot reserved at the emergency vet after work tomorrow.

Guys, I forgot the most important on the day; salad mix family style! Between 17 and 18 I get a bowl with mixed salad. If slave is late with two minutes we'll let her know... I jump and run, Chip screams and Joe stares.

Its just the right way to tell the slave you do the important things (nap) and she does her hobby (homeworks). Our slave says she goes to work like thats something important 😂

Oh no, just what a piggy owner dreads. Poor Stripe, poor Chez. I hope the vet visit goes well tomorrow. Sorry to hear the infection might have returned.

Turns out Stripe is tilting his head and pawing his left ear. Maybe another ear infection 😞

Him and Chez both have appointments tomorrow and they're emergency prices but I can't make Stripe wait till next week.

Poor Stripe 😔 he just started popcorning again.
Good luck brother Stripe, hope you and Chez are well and popcorns again very soon 💜 we are cheering for you /Kongo, Chip and Joe

We're all off to the vet in an hour. Mom called the vet to see if Chez's eyes could wait for normal vet visit prices because two emergency visits were kind of expensive and they said they'd see us both for the price of one! Mom couldn't refuse. So we're all leaving soon.

Chez and Stripe

There was nothing wrong with Chez's eyes! I must've seen a reflection.

Stripe will have antibiotics and syringe feeding twice a day and metacam for ten days then a possible CT scan for his ears.

She said Chez might be a little chunky when she saw him but when she felt him he was ok!

Chunky🥰 Glad that one problem is solved. Poor Stripe, back on the meds 🙁 But he is such a good boy. And you won't become deaf yourself from squeaking while treating him, unlike Chez with his healthy lungs.

Hi guys, Chez and I have calmed down since the scary vet visit. I'm glad mom caught my ear infection early. Because I'm still active and out of my hide, not laying around like last time. I know in a half hour I'm getting some meds after spot cleaning, and some critical care. But for now I'm eating a biscuit.

Chez was good for his nail trim! Mom's been giving us health checks so maybe he's getting used to being held. Good news, Chez's teeth straightened out. In June when he had his first vet visit they were slanted. But he munches hay and we were all hoping they'd straighten.

Let's try to make this a good day despite the meds!

Hi Survivors!

I just had my yucky meds, but then I had some critical care, and I would bite the syringe for more. I just love it! I get more after Mom's zoom meeting.

I'm increasingly hard to catch, I won't get in my snuggle sack, Mom has to lift me into it.

Mom thought she'd make med time snuggle time and was stroking my head and I head butted her to let her know I am no longer the passive, docile Stripe I was with my last ear infection. Then she put me back in my cage and I got a cookie.

I've gotten really sassy.

Hey survivors,

I've had five doses of my baytril and doxycycline, and my head is no longer tilted. I make a low purring sound when mom comes in my room at 11pm after work. I just know she's going to take me out to give me my meds and it makes me mad. That noise makes her feel bad because I associate her with bad things right now.

Mom can't afford the $840 CT scan so on the 25th I'm having X-rays. I wish I could have a CT scan. Maybe we'd find something. Doc couldn't even see traces of an ear infection with the naked eye, but we decided on antibiotics anyway.

I'm in my hide but I know next time she comes in I'm coming out for meds 😥. She's going to bring two syringes of critical care, she bought an extra syringe to get more in in one sitting.
