Stubbins is suddenly ill

You are in a tricky situation. I think another vet would be useful - getting another opinion never hurts
I am going to try calling a third vet today.
I will try and see if he/she can offer any advice over the phone before meeting in person.
The two vets that I have seen already are the closest to me. The third is anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on traffic.
I can’t add any advice but want you to know that I am holding you in my heart
Thank you so much.💕

Odd advice from the vet, there. And I agree that sometimes you have to go with your instincts and do what you feel is right for your piggy. I’d be worried about that amount of weight loss over 2 weeks. So I agree that perhaps a different vet might be worth a try. So sorry you are still taking one step forward and one backward.

Thank you. :)
It is so hard to entrust a vet with the safety of my piggy, more so when they seem inexperienced.
I am trying so hard to get her better. :(

😡
I called the vet three hours ago and they never got back to me.
I called about an hour ago, and they said that there were two calls ahead of me.
I am super upset!

I’m sorry you don’t seem to be getting any answers from the vets ☹️ Fingers crossed you will get through and have some solid plan of action from someone.

The vet's office closes in 15 minutes and they have not called me back.
What should I do? :(

Perhaps try tomorrow early (soon as they open) if they’re opening. The issue is that the vet is so busy ☹
On one hand, I feel bad that they are swamped, and on the other, I wish they would take our case more seriously. Stubbins is visibly smaller than she was only a month ago and she had blood in her diarrhea less than a week ago!

Did you tell them about the blood? If it really is diarrhoea then she should be seen as an emergency. Perhaps email them and call up tomorrow/Monday. Otherwise not sure what else you can do really ☹️

I told the vet about the blood in her diarrhea, but she didn't really seem concerned about it. She just said to let her know if it happened again. :(

The vet reached out to me and was super helpful!
She said to start giving Stubbins 2 mL's of Critical Care four times a day along with Cisapride, Bene-bac, and poop soup.
I feel so relieved and thankful.
I still feel bad for going on a rant. 😂

I feel like the worst piggy parent. 😞
This has been a rough night.
First, I tried giving Stubbins her dose of Critical Care, but the syringe was not working properly and half of it shot out at once, which startled Stubbins.
Second, I decided to give her a small bath because her butt was caked in poop, but this ended in disaster. Everything was set up and ready to go, but when I tried lowering Stubbins in, she started squirming and squeaking, so I removed her from the water. (We used a shallow, one-inch dish with room temperature to warm water). Her butt got a bit wet and I gently wiped her off, but she seemed so stressed that I brought her back home.
I am so worried that I stressed Stubbins out and ruined our bond.
She is currently taking a nap after eating her nighttime pellets.
Her nails still have rock-hard poop caked onto them, and nothing seems to be working! :(

Today is a new day... most pigs scream blue murder when they have a little bath, drama for no reason so dont worry.. they still love you.. x

We are having quite a bit of trouble with Stubbins.
We cut our piggies' nails every month, but Stubbins has made that difficult this time around.
The poop caked on her nails will not come off! We have tried warm water, gentle massages, wet towels, and I have even tried to pick it off--nothing works!
The problem is that I cannot see where the quick is, and therefore cannot cut her nails.
What do I do? :)

Och that is a shame, you might need to bathe her feet in a wee bit of warm water for a few minutes and towel it off gently. I am not sure if you can use unscented soaps or anything like that, probably not safe. I would just try and trim the very tips of the nails for now to avoid the quick.

Poor Stubbins, I haven't caught up with your news yet? Still no joy?

I just realized that I forgot to give Stubbins her Cisapride this morning... I feel awful... will she be okay? :(

Quick update:
Stubbins is doing a lot better in terms of diarrhea. Her poops have gone from watery to mushy, so they are slowly getting back to normal.
In terms of weight, Stubbins has lost 90 grams. The vet has decided to add more Critical Care sessions each day.
Fingers crossed that my little girl gets better soon! :)
