Pringle & Panko’s Thread

A sad update today
Pringles teeth are not looking good, he has been on daily Metacam and seemed to be eating well but we noticed the front teeth were growing wonky again
We decided as he was eating well to take him for just the front teeth to be trimmed, when he was at the vets one of his teeth just fell out, and the vet said it much have been cracked low down, back teeth are also not looking good, he would need a lot of regular dental work to correct.
Given his age and his shy nature we will monitoring him closely and when he stops eating we will let him go, we knew they may be the case when the teeth issues appeared in December.
Panko is having his neuter next Wednesday so he will be ready for a lady friend.
Very sad but we know Pringle has had the best life and we will be cherishing every day we have with him.

So sorry to hear this. Dental woes are my worst nightmare. I hope that Pringle enjoys many more happy days with you.

They really are, if we knew they could be fixed with one treatment that would be wonderful but that is very much not going to be the case.
No, they rarely are. In Odi's case we battled for over 1.5 years. It started mildly and got slowly worse in the course of time. Luckily, I've got a great vet who did concess dentals for as long as it was possible and after that a light anaesthetic that Odi tolerated very well. But it meant a dentals every three to four weeks for many months, constant hand feeding and Odi's amazing fighting spirit. He just never gave up and are hay on his own. He was such a happy boy right until the end.
