If she’s not eating much she could be getting gassy. I give any piggies, with poor appetite, Emeprid. It seems to really help and often they start to eat more xx
Jess the second vet couldn’t see anything other than incisors had been cut too short and were rough, so she filed them correctly and just a little to tidy them up. There was a tiny lump in her cheek flesh so she gave antibiotics as a precaution xIt’s not as if you’ve got a reason for her not eating. So there’s nothing to really fix as such. What did the vet say again?
Thank you, I will give her some. I have just blended down some groundsel, grass and green pepper and she has eaten a couple of teaspoons full herself. She also managed to lick mushed pellets off my finger. Very time consuming but she prefers that to the syringe! If she’s not eating much she could be getting gassy. I wonder if I should get an X-ray to see if the first vet has broken her jaw. She was clearly very rough with her to come back bleeding and looking like she’d been in a fight. The vet and I decided not to bother (looking for abscess/tooth root problems) as she’s too weak for an op. But she was eating pellets as normal before she saw the vet and if Jess didn’t see anything wrong with her mouth, I’m thinking it must be something not visible by eye? It’s not as if you’ve got a reason for her not eating. Thank you.I would try a conscious X-ray. Just to rule out anything to do with the jaw itself. She wasn’t too bad before the first vet appointment was she?
Conscious X-rays aren’t traumatic at all, they wrap them in a blanket and do it like that. The cost depends who you see, I’d say maybe about £120 but I can’t say for certain. I’d definitely have it done for peace of mind if nothing elseThank you.
No she had started eating again and I almost didn’t go, but thought I’d get her checked out.
Could you explain how they do a conscious xray please? Do they wrap them in a towel? I don’t want to put her through anything too traumatic.
If it is dislocated would you know what the treatment is please?
Have you any idea of the cost please? I’m well over £1000 on her now and currently not working, so just need to ensure I can afford it. I’d go without for her, but the last vet check up was £90 for a check up and anticibiotics, so I’m thinking an X-ray would be quite a lot more?
Sorry I have only just seen this message. Jess said there’s no soreness, no ulcers and no abscessesDid Jess say if the soft tissue in the mouth was sore and ulcerated?

Thank you, that’s a good idea, I will send the video to Jess, although they don’t seem to have a normal email address, just a contact form, but I’ll ring to find out. It’s so weird that nothing is visibly wrong but she can’t eat!
The antibiotics could be a reason for not eating. But not for the way she is eating in the video. Can you send the video to Jess for advice. There was a thread on here a while ago about a dislocated jaw. I’ll see it I can find it.
Thank you, I am sure you’re right and Simon would know, he sounds amazing. She’s okay travelling, but would probably need to be fed en route.Often it can be the tiniest little thing. I’ve had piggies here, where on first examination, all looks completely normal, but then Simon has found the smallest little spike, or maybe a very slightly loose tooth and once that has been dealt with, the piggy starts to eat. It’s not that other vets have made a big mistake, but more to do with Simon having such extensive experience, that he spots something incredibly subtle. If there was any way to get Biscuit up here, it would be worth getting her seen by Simon. Transport can be sorted, as we recently got the boys transported to @PerfectPiggyPaws, but whether Biscuit would be up to the journey needs to be considered too.

I was wondering, if the antibiotics were necessary, she maybe will pick up from today, which is day 3? It was a stab in the dark, when nothing else was obvious to Jess, but I am hoping it works.
Does @PerfectPiggyPaws help care for your patients then? I’m fairly new on here, so am still learning who is who, although did bump into her when I saw Jess!
That sounds really good thank you, a real comfort to know there are such kind people out there offering such support. I will see how she does in the next day or two. I am practically housebound with her and with two young children, it is difficult to know which way to turn xxShe adopted a pair of boars from TEAS
Maybe if Biscuit doesn’t start to pick up soon, we look at trying to set up a piggy train to get her here. I offer boarding through my pet business at a £30 per week that covers all supportive care, transport to vet appointments and you just pay vets directly xx
When I had Bear xrayed, it was at Paignton Dart Vale as the Brixham clinic doesn't have all the machines to do any sort of scans. Bear had conscious xrays and it was about £170. That was at the beginning of October.Thank you.

Ahh I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t believe as I pressed post reply, she came out and started eating her food. She has looked like she’s nearing the end all afternoon. I don’t know what to do tomorrow now xI’m really sorry. You’ve done absolutely all you can. Sometimes the call to the bridge is just too great. I lost my Percy in August to a bladder stone. He had the op on the Friday and didn’t really recover from it. He passed on the Monday. If they could live just by us wanting it he’d still be here. What I’m trying to say is that sometimes no matter how hard we try to save them some things are out of our control. Take care .
Poor Percy, it must’ve been awful for you, but at least you gave him the chance to survive xI’m really sorry. You’ve done absolutely all you can. Sometimes the call to the bridge is just too great. Thank you, I will. I am shocked at how she has gone from looking almost gone to eating in a flash. Appreciate your support thank you xJust see how she is in the morning. See if she will take a bit more mush before bed. Then at least you know you’ve done all you can.
She wouldn’t take it and I’m not sure if she swallowed it as there was no chewing. But I didn’t see it dripping down her mouth, so I guess it must’ve gone in. I gave her an early dose as I thought it would help stop her suffering. So I think it could be, as she wouldn’t usually have her second dose until bedtime. Was it after the metacam she perked up? X

She’s just come out and eaten some leaves! I can’t believe it, she hasn’t done that since the vets dental last Monday! Was it after the metacam she perked up? X
Yes you could be right! No it was the other vet. She told me I could give her 0.2ml cat Metacam twice a day, but after advice on here, the vet agreed I could give her 0.4ml twice a day, or up to 0.9ml a day. She’s around 800g.I can’t comment on dosage but maybe she’s just in pain. Was it Jess who prescribed cat metacam?
She is definitely eating her greens, chopped but not mushed!I can’t comment on dosage but maybe she’s just in pain. Was it Jess who prescribed cat metacam?
In fact it could be one of 3 things. The extra Metacam, the antibiotics kicking in or I gave her Emeprid this morning which could’ve worked! I have never seen a creature going from deaths door to eating in a flash in my life, it’s wonderful, I just hope she keeps it up xShe’s just come out and eaten some leaves!
