Possible jawline abscess

Fantastic news! Take things one day at a time, you're doing so well and so is biscuit. I guess the metacam must have kicked in for her, and hopefully the antibiotics are making a difference now. Perhaps the emeprid is making her feel hungry? I really am pleased to hear this update! Fingers crossed she continues to improve 🤞❤️

brilliant news! I’m so happy for you both 🤞Sorry been out all day, but yes Emeraid is the one Ted liked, he hated all the rest. If she could get up to Debbie’s that would be worth it to see Simon. My Ted has boarded with Debbie on many occasions 3 months in lockdown so he could still see Simon regularly, she will be in the most experienced hands with Debbie

Thank you, yes Debbie sounds amazing. I will see how she is tomorrow, at the moment is now too weak for much. Your Ted sounds like a confident boy to go on his holidays! I did email Maria but she isn’t taking on anyone until next year. If Biscuit is still with us, it looks like I’ll be taking her to a hotel! Unless you know of any other boarders in Cornwall or Devon?

Do you happen to know the max dosing for cat Metacam for an 800g Guinea please? The vet who clocked up her teeth said max 0.9ml after an op and agreed on 0.4ml twice a day. Thank you.

Oh no I don’t, my boys used to always come with us or they boarded at Debbie’s. Bill and Ted are now over the bridge and my new piggies have always boarded at Maria’s. Ted was very confident, his partner Bill died just before lockdown and the day he was due to be bonded with his two new wives he ended up at Debbie’s as the local exotics made such a mess of his teeth he could not eat so we had to dash him up to Northampton under lockdown, he stayed there til July, he then came back and was bonded with Posh and Ginger
I’m sorry I can’t help with Cat Metacam I have always been prescribed Dog Metacam

You are doing an amazing job, just keep encouraging her to eat x

I'm not saying you should use this much but when my fuzz was in a lot of pain with her spine a couple of years ago,Kim at the cat and rabbit clinic prescribed 0.6ml of dog metacam twice a day which is 3 times stronger than cat metacam. It was temporary and we reduced the dose when she was feeling better.Fuzz was just over 1000g at the time x

May I ask what dose of dog Metacam you are prescribed per kg please?

I think it was at least a week.I do remember Kim saying I could go up to 1ml if absolutely necessary if she wasn't perking up on the 0.6ml x
That is way more than the dose I was told or even the double dose I’m giving. It seems to vary so much between vets. You’d think it would be standard across the board.

With dog metacam, 0.4ml is the standard but a piggy over 1000grams can have 1ml if absolutely necessary, this is twice daily. I have no idea about cat metacam though, all I know is that it’s significantly weaker than the dog metacam and so needs to be given at at higher dose

Unfortunately a lot of vets aren't clued up on guinea pigs.My local vets only prescribe cat metacam once daily and in very low doses.

Thank you everyone. Doesn’t look like Biscuit has eaten anything during the night and isn’t interested in any food this morning. I’ve given her 0.8ml of Metacam and hopefully at least she won’t be in pain this morning until we say goodbye.
You have all been a wonderful support and I cannot thank you all enough x

All the best for today. It is so hard to go through this but it is the best thing for her if she is suffering. Biscuit will be reunited with Chocolate over the Rainbow Bridge where she can eat whatever she likes!

So sorry but I think you've made the best decision for Biscuit. Chocolate and biscuit will be together again. I wish you well and I'm glad your husband will be there with you. I'll be thinking of you at 10am xx

Bless you, thank you. I’m pretty sure she’ll be straight on the dandelions when she can! X

Bless you, thank you for all your support, you are so kind x

You are most welcome.
Be kind to yourself and know that you've done everything you could to get Biscuit through but sometimes it's just not meant to be.
Remember the good times and think of Biscuit and Chocolate popcorning through a huge meadow of all their favourite foods.
Sometimes the kindest thing is to let them go xx

Oh I’m so sorry just caught up, got a stinking cold and haven’t been able to sleep last night. Sending hugs to you, I’m so sorry she hasn’t eaten anything this morning. I think you are making the right decision. You are so far away from the C&R and I can only imagine how hard it is with two small children. You tried so hard and sometimes everything is stacked against us, treasure your memories of little Biscuit
