Please keep your fingers crossed for Elizabeth - passing blood.

Here are more hugs cos you can never have enough
Thank you. I’m so stressed out and thinking worse case scenarios 😞 I’ve been trying not to read stuff up online and I’m not doing but the amount of blood she’s passing is so scary 😞 I had her out on the settee on a blanket to monitor her and the amount of blood she’s left really does have me concerned x

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
Sending you more hugs Claire. Such a difficult time for you, hopefully the ABs will kick in by tomorrow morning.

Could she maybe have had a little pee too so it looks like there’s more?
So sorry Claire, but hopefully that Baytril will kick in very soon and she’ll be feeling much better. It’s so hard to worry I’m totally the same, sending you and beautiful Elizabeth ginormous hugs from me and the gang and massive healing vibes for her xx

Vaginas are funny places to bleed from as the blood can collect in there and come out all in one gush when they move. You are doing all you can, hang in there xx

Thank you everyone. It’s frank blood that she’s passing 😞, I’ve just cleaned out their cage and the blood isn’t mixed in with urine. I’ve checked her again whilst giving her her baytril and I’m sure she has crusty nipples which she didn’t have at the vet appointment on Wednesday 😞 I have her booked in at the vets later on this evening as something definitely isn’t right and with the weekend and Christmas coming up, I need answers x

Poor Elizabeth. Fingers and paws crossed here for her. I know how worrying this must be for you, sending a big hug.

Really hope the vet appointment goes well and she’s ok bless her, poor little lady. Big hugs from us and good luck for later :hug:xx

Hoping everything goes well for the little lady 🤞Sorry you are having such a stressful time of it

When Edward was poorly and staying with Wiebke, I registered the piggies with another vet practice as my current vets couldn’t do a conscious incisor burr where as this vet thought they could if he was willing. I never got to take him to this vets but it’s this vets I’m taking Elizabeth too tonight as they’re open until 8pm and my current vets close at 6 and could only offer me an appointment this afternoon that I can’t make as I have transport difficulties with my parents being away and husband at work (I’m currently not allowed to drive) do I tell them that she’s already been to the vets or do I keep quiet? I don’t want my current vets to know that I have taken her elsewhere. Also, what should I be asking / telling the vet? The vet at my current practice palpitated her womb, ovaries and bladder but couldn’t feel anything and she wasn’t showing any signs of being in discomfort. But the crusty nipples have come out of nowhere. She didn’t have them on Wednesday 😞

Tell them she's seen a vet already, because they need that background treatment information. It'll help with treatment going forward and you can explain what's changed and why you're worried, but they absolutely need to know what's happened and treatment so far.

Good luck with the vet, hopefully she's feeling better soon.

Thank you. Will Crown House know that I’ve taken her to Valley Vets or will it be confidential? I’m worried as my cat, Harrison has surgery booked in at Crown House on 3rd January with the same vet and I don’t want any awkwardness

You could ask, but if they want to confirm treatment details there's not a lot you can do about that. However, Crown House are unlikely to mind - let's be honest. They're booked solid bar emergency appointments which aren't easy to get either, and Elizabeth's getting new/further symptoms. If Valley Vets can see her earlier (and they can) it's in Elizabeth's best interests and any good vet knows it.

When Lolo had her ovarian cysts, the only symptoms with her were being a bit of a grump and off with Luigi, and her slightly crusty nipples that grew really quickly (within a week nipples looked absolutely huge compared to normal) and got a lot crustier.
Not to worry you or anything as may not be that at all, just a thought as her’s came on really quickly too like Elizabeth’s.
When I go to my local vets I always tell them I’ve been to ‘my piggy’ vets and what’s happened, (and same with C&R, when I’ve been to local vets) just so they know. I’ve only ever known them to contact C&R when they’ve sent notes/xrays through when I’ve asked. I wouldn’t worry, I doubt they’d be funny, sure they know you just want the best care for her and answers as to what’s going on xx

Thank you. I may still take Elizabeth to her appointment at Crown House on Wednesday and just explain but I guess it depends on whether the vet finds anything tonight and I’ll take it from there. Yes, Crown House are booked solid apart from Emergency appointments. I guess everyone has the same idea of having their pets seen before they close for Christmas / New a year 😞

I’m sorry to hear about Elizabeth - you’re doing the best you can. I agree with Lorcan ….tell the vets today what’s been going on , meds etc and the new symptoms etc. I’m not sure they’d contact your other vets but they are all trying to help Elizabeth so don’t worry about that. I hope the appt goes well and Elizabeth starts to get better asap ❤️
Sending much love and hugs to you

Thank you. I guess if I tell the vets tonight that she’s already seen a vet and what treatment she’s having, they’ll be ok about it? Current vets will be closed by the time we go for her appointment. I’m really hoping Elizabeth doesn’t have ovarian cysts but there’s definitely something going on and the crusty nipples are worrying me sick. I really don’t think it’s a UTI as I’ve had piggies with UTI’s / IC before and the bleeding is completely different this time round. Trust that Elizabeth hasn’t passed any blood so far today and has cleaned herself up but she looked like something from a murder scene around her vulva last night and the bleeding was just awful 😞 I really don’t want her to need a spay 😞 Elizabeth hasn’t been grumpy at all but then, she doesn’t have a pesky boar hassling her anymore x

Please don't worry about your regular vets knowing you have taken her elsewhere. Our local vets know we have other vet options to see and they recommend it going elsewhere if we think another more qualified vets are needed. Even Ellie Whitehead at Derwent Valley Vets tell clients they can go to another vet whenever she is on holiday. Vets should not get offended whenever a client seeks 2nd or 3rd opinions from another. They even ask their own colleagues for a 2nd opinion. A few vets in our local vets even know about Bryce's operation and how it looked like because the vet surgeon asked another vet to looked at it.

Hopefully you'll get answers on what's wrong with Elizabeth. It could be UTI or it can also be ovarian cysts. Fingers crossed for her appointment later.

Yes I’d say to them what’s been going on and that you started her on the Baytril too etc, but just seems to be getting worse and you’re a lot more worried. I’m sure a lot of us use different vets when usual ones on holiday or something, like @anyar.dris says.
I really hope she doesn’t too bless her, but you know her best and sure you’ve had plenty of experience with UTIs and IC so if she’s worrying you definitely best to get her in again. Poor Elizabeth, and you :( Glad she’s not passed any today though bless her.
Lolo’s spay went really well and she was much happier afterwards, but try not to worry about that until after her appointment when you hopefully know a little more, know it’s blooming hard though :hug:Sending lots of love from us xx

Thank you. Could Lolo’s cysts be felt on palpitation? How was she diagnosed? Glad her spay went well. I’m just so worried 😞 She’s started to pass blood again so I’ve taken some photos to a show the vet. 7pm can’t come fast enough! x

Yes Kim at Cat and Rabbit could feel them, and with her acting so out of character and such a change with her nipples so fast we went for the spay as seemed best. But obviously it could not be that, and something completely different, really hope you get some answers at your appt.
It’s always so worrying with piggies passing blood, I’m so sorry she’s passing it again, I hope she’s doing ok. I bet, sending her lots of healing vibes and hope you’re doing ok xx

This is why I’m worried it’s something more sinister as the vet couldn’t feel anything on palpitation. Did she have the spay that day or did you have to go back?

I’ll update when I know something x

Sorry Claire, shattered so I’ve been having an afternoon kip. No they were really busy at the time and Kim didn’t think it was really urgent so we went back around 2 weeks later (which is when she got a lot more angry and:gd: with Luigi than she was before). But obviously it’s different for each piggy, that was just with my girl.
Really hope your appointment goes well, thinking of you both x

I’m afraid it isn’t great news about Elizabeth. The vet could feel all sorts of lumps and bumps inside her and even got a second opinion 😞 She offered to do a scan there and then but admitted that she wasn’t an expert with ultrasounds and recommended that I take her on Monday when the vet who’s really experienced is in so Elizabeth is off back to the vets on Monday for a scan. The vet was lovely and has guinea pigs of her own. Please keep those fingers crossed as I’m worried sick 😞 Elizabeth is still bright and alert. I’ll update again on Monday x
