Pigging Out

We just got back home.

So Simon has looked at Bryce's teeth and said that the top incisors are definitely longer than it should be and the bottom incisors are shorter than it should be. The slant tooth at the bottom is most definitely caused by the abscess which he thinks is coming from the root of that tooth. The back teeth aremostly okay apart from some little growth that is making everything not level around his mouth. So Simon has fixed and leveled all his teeth. He said he had to trimmed the top incisors so that there will be room for the bottom incisors to grow. He would have some minor issues picking up food for a few days but that is unavoidable with what was needed to be done.

With regards to the abscess, he said to finish the bottle of antibiotics (still has 8 days left). Now this will be a waiting and seeing game, whether the antibiotics has fully done the job or not. He cleaned the hole in Bryce's neck. There is still a hole from last week when Ellie squeezed/drained out the liquid abscess. Simon said we have to make sure that the hole is open as much as possible so the abscess can drain itself. He said there are only 3 options that might happen, abscess will be gone eventually, or it may just continue draining, or it will grow big again that it will need to be removed again. So it's just really a long waiting game unfortunately. We'll just have to deal with it if it ever gets worse.

Good news is Bryce can pick up grass and hay and has been eating the hay when we got back. He's asleep now after eating for 10mins in his cage. I'll feed him again in an hour. Fingers crossed that it'll be easier at least to deal this abscess, as long as he's eating because that's what we really want, for him to constantly be able to eat by himself and not thru syringe and hand feeding.

Here he is during the journey after seeing Simon. 😁

You must be shattered after your long day and the worry about Bryce.
It sounds as if it was a good vet trip though.
Hope that wretched abscess heals soon.

It was a good day travelling, no traffic too which was weird. We left at 10:30am to make way for traffic but we were already in Northampton at 2pm. 😂 We wanted to meet with Debbie but she was busy so we waited around different car parks. 😂 Only issue hubby had was we spent another £250 today. We spent around £1000 already, that's supposed to be our holiday money. 😭👎 Bryce is insured but abscess is not included since it was already a pre-existing condition when we insured him. 😑

Hopefully Bryce will be able to eat for himself now his teeth are ok. 🤞🏻

Abscesses take a while to deal with. He’s lucky he has you both. ❤️

Currently bonding the monsters again. Only one small scuffle. Bryce wants to hump Whitney, but she's refusing. They are allowing each other to be near, but still too much bickering when they get face to face. One backs out eventually. Bryce keeps on yawning and showing his teeth, Whitney just carries on eating. They need to sort out their heirarchy I think. They have thre whole living room to run around.

Bonding again today. They are currently together for 1.5hrs. No lunging but just teeth chattering. They back away when they are face to face. Whitney makes all these high pitch wheek. Bryce wanted to hump her to assert dominance and Whitney complains but just runs away. They are currently eating grass. Fingers crossed we don't have to separate them today. 🤞🤞

Well, the monsters are still together. Only minor bickering whenever they get face to face but there are no signs of killing each other. :yahoo: I've removed the barriers now and I haven't cleaned the main cage so both their scents are there. Removed all the fleece bed/house but just boxes so they can both see each other and can run away easy in case they scuffle. I'm going to stay up late till 3am anyway to see if Bryce needs any topup, he only had minimal top up of Emeraid today because he is eating and maintaining his weight. 👍👍

They are still not the best of friends but at least they are tolerating each other. No scuffle just occasional bickering and rumble strutting. Good thing they have a big cage (and the whole living room) and they can be on each end if they choose to.
