Pigging Out

Bryce and Whitney still separated. We tried to bond them the other day and it failed. Will have to try again in another day. 😔😑

Bryce has not had any CC today. He's been maintaining his weight, eating enough hay and grass. He just have to start eating the veggies and wet food again by himself so he won't get dehydrated, since he doesn't really drink from the bottle. I currently have to syringe water to him a few times during the day. He's getting there though, albeit slow. 👍

My sweet boy Brycey-boo tucked in for the night. 😍😍

This is the first night I didn't have to stay up sooooo late to make sure he eats. :yahoo: I can relax tonight and just wait in bed until I fall asleep. Hubby has been asleep for a couple of hours now too. Later this afternoon, we have to take Bryce to Ellie again for a follow up checkup. Fingers crossed nothing else is going on and we can have some treatment plan in terms of his pain management with his arthritic knees (which was the original issue he has).

The post op checkup with Ellie went well this afternoon. She said Bryce's wound is healing nicely. She gave it a little clean to remove the small scab and told us we don't have to do anything about it anymore. No abscess at all as well. She looked at his teeth and everything was great. So she recommended to reduce the Loxicom from 0.5ml 2x a day to 0.4ml 2x a day and see how he would react in terms of pain with regards to his arthritic knees. We know from a few weeks ago that 0.3ml he started to feel uncomfortable with pain so we have to see whether any pain is manageable enough with the current dosage or whether he would feel any pain again when it's time to lower it again. So just have to do some tweaking in the long run.

Hopefully he would continue with eating more and more, especially with his veggies. But he is eating hay and grass so that's good. 👍

Tried bonding Bryce and Whitney again this afternoon in the lawn. We put a 3x3 C&C and let them both in. Bryce was okay with Whitney until she made all these high pitch wheeking sounds with rumble strutting and then Bryce would start rumble strutting too. After a few seconds, Whitney would try to lunge at him. We think Whitney is showing fear aggression. So after around 20mins, Whitney managed to get to Bryce and attacked him. Thankfully no bite wounds to both of them and I managed to separate them quickly. Bryce was a bit startled though and was shaking after coz he was the one who lost in that fight. I had to cuddle him for 10mins to calm him down. Pigs eh?! 😑🙄😩😔

So I had to rearrange their house and divide it. So they can atleast be side by side instead of one of them in the other side of the room. They will have to take turns in roaming the living room and going to their chair for now. Hopefully we can still bond them in the future. We thankfully have all the time to do it before we go on our holiday to the Philippines on November. Fingers firmly crossed. 🤞🤞

I couldn't put a full 3x2 for Whitney because we wouldn't have a space to walk on going to the kitchen. I might try to change it in the next few days but that would do for now. She is lazy and doesn't really run around anyway and was always stuck under their chair even though she had the whole living room to roam in the last 2 weeks she was separated. 🙄

We had to bring Bryce to Ellie this afternoon again. I felt a small lump by his right jaw (different area where the previous abscess was) when I was about to feed him at 2 am. So hubby phoned the vets to get him seen.

Ellie put a needle in it to try to remove the abscess but she said she only managed to get out like a drop of it. So she decided to prescribe antibiotics to see whether we caught it early enough to stop it getting big again. She is honestly wondering where all these abscess is coming from. Bryce's teeth are all fine and looking good and normal. She is thinking that it is from one of the bottom incisors' root but since his teeth are great, she quite have no idea where it is exactly. So for now, we are trying the antibiotics route and hoping it will do something.

Every week we go to the vet. 😑😩👎

Update on Bryce:

Affer the unfortunate mishap that happened on Wednesday night to Bryce (I posted in the rant thread about his legs hurting again because I either squeezed him hard while cuddling him or his legs were in the wrong position before I put him on the floor), he is doing great! 😁

Thursday, he only squeeked of pain in the morning and during the day he was walking around the living room fine and eating hay and grass. We didn't need to give him CC but hubby ordered Emeraid Sustain and I made a syringe for him to try it and flipping heck, he loved it and was asking for it even though he doesn't need it! 😂

Friday, he was even better. His weight on Monday went down to 1247g, but Friday morning, he was 1314g without even us giving him CC and I didn't even stayed up late the night before to hand feed him. I stayed up late to finish a book though. 😂 He also started eating his cucumber and melon without me hand feeding it to him. I had to cut him more for tonight because he finished it and he needs something in case he wants it in the middle of the night. He seems to be getting back to eating his veggies again which he needs for liquid since he doesn't drink water from the bottle. He was also wheeking for grass more this day. 😁

Both him and Whitney are still separated though. Our living room is currently in half with C&C barriers so both have a run in the living room at the same time, which did Bryce good and made him happy. Hubby decided to not bond them yet again until Bryce is fully back to normal and when we can stop monitoring whether he's eating or not. Whitney is a hoover in terms of eating so it was a good thing at the moment that they are separated coz she will surely eat all the food and won't leave anything to Bryce if they are together while he was still unwell.

The Metronidazole seems to be working. I felt his jaw earlier and it seems normal and flat and no bumps. I have to ask hubby to check it in the morning. He didn't have any side effect with it, unlike with Zithromax. Fingers crossed everything is going on the right direction.

With his knees, we would have to see about the pain management for it. Ellie wanted to see whether if we gradually stop the Loxicom if he will start having pains again. So for the time being, we have to gradually put the dosage down. He is currently still in 0.6ml 2x a day. Hubby will start to put it down in the following days.

That’s such good news that Bryce is doing much better, and putting on a little weight. May it continue in the same vein ❤️

Well Bryce woke up this morning with some soft poops. Looks like he didn't eat after I went to bed at 2am. He weighed 1275g when hubby weighed him at 8am. He is still eating some during the day but his poops seems to be intermittent with it being normal and then it will be soft and clumpy. So we are giving him top up CC today.

One step forward, two steps backward with Bryce at the moment. 😔😔
