Yes. E.cuniculi? Sounds familiar, is that a parasite which can cause neurological issues?
It's probably not in my piggies best interest is it. Oh well, maybe in the future.

Buns are definitely expensive to care for properly! Hope he feels like a new bun with his metacam dose for his 9th birthdayPatch has just been back to the vet for a follow up.
His eye :
His blind eye is stable. She is happy with it.
However, she has noticed some changes in his good eye potentially going towards blindness. She said that she still doesnt think it’s caused by e.cuniculi though and is instead just him ageing. She has decided to give a preventative course of panacur though because she cannot rule E.C. completely out but thinks it’s unlikely, so we are expecting the panacur to not make any difference.
Arthritis :
He is definitely sore in his spine. He is being put on a good sized dose of dog metacam twice a day. Will see how things go and can adjust dose accordingly.
Other :
All three rabbits are moulting but I noticed in the last couple of days that Patch is looking exceptionally messy, I suspect mites. Vet has now confirmed mites in line with his old age, less than perfect immune system etc, so ive got a course of ivermectin for him.
Not a cheap trip - metacam, panacur and xeno - but I’m happy with the outcome and as its his 9th birthday next week, the metacam will be making him feel better and he will feel more spritely for his birthday!

Yes I always found the later years to be the most expensive with my past buns! He’s such a good age though and worth every penny! They certainly are! Other than his leg sprain and tumour surgery (aside from the annual vaccinations), he has barely touched his vet fund in 9 years so he is just making up for it now!

Hey @Piggies&buns how's the buns?
Ah brilliant! Glad that Patch is managing alright despite losing his sight. Typical male inhaling foodThey are all good!
The girls are being as difficult as ever! Fussy with their veg, will only eat grass if they pick it themselves - a handful freshly delivered isnt good enough! But as gorgeous as always!
Patch is doing well for an old boy.
Patch had his Xeno treatment a while back. He was looking ok but is now looking a bit scruffy again. It might be molt but I’m going to give him a brush and see what that tells me, if not he will be back to the vet for a check up. His immune system isn’t top notch anymore so mites are going to take their opportunity.
The sight in his good eye was deteriorating a bit at his last check. I anticipate he will end up fully blind. He carries on as normal though and is a happy boy, loves his food (in fact he inhales it!).
The painkillers are managing his arthritis and he seems much less affected by it which is good

Is sight loss common in older rabbits or is it just the unlucky few? To be honest I had a feeling the girls were difficult. Something in the photos just gave the impression
Happy belated birthday Saffron and Luna! Hopefully you had lots of yummy treats.
Aww Patch. @Piggies&buns you couldn't be mad at that little face could you. How are they coping with the warm weather? Do they cope better than guinea pigs?
