I am so sorry to hear this. Sending you hugs at such a sad time.
I just want to give Pringle a big cuddle.Thank you everyone for your kind words, Pepper was very loved both here and over on Instagram, he will be hugely missed.
Pringle seems to be coping okay for the moment, he has a new hay cube to keep him company and he is liking being able to selectively eat all the good bits of veg.
We will of course be making enquiries with rescues once we have the all clear about his lump.

I have, there is a single boy available in Wimbledon that I have enquired about but they do seem to prefer to rehome boars neutered to girls. Hopefully we will hear back.Have you tried the RSPCA ?
I have a vague memory that there’s a place near Swindon
Yes the RSPCA has just replied saying I need a baby or to neuter him, which I don’t want either. Pringle is a chilled boy and very submissive so I don’t think bonding should be to much of a challengeThe RSPCA won't rehome boars to homes with unneutered boars, they don't do bonding. I've tried!
I'm sure you will find him a friend soon, he's used to having a cage mate, not like the nutty Bertie.
Yes you would think so! We really really don’t want a baby, from what we have been through with Pepper my partner is not wanting to restart a potential 8 year cycle again. It’s very hard when you have lost one to think about neutering isn’t it, because of the risks involved, we atleast want to try him with some boys first. Their is a rescue not to far and she has some singles that are 18m or under so if it comes to it I will go to her, I’d happily have a younger one but my partner really doesn’t.Sending you hugs. I know how hard it is, you'd think with so many piggies in rescue it would be easy, it's not! Little Wheekers have been brilliant to us, so helpful but Bertie's been alone too long. They don't have any babies, buying one would be an absolute last resort but I don't even know where I could get one. Pets at Home won't sell single guinea pigs unless they are in the rehoming section and then they are not true babies. The problem with babies as well is that when they hit the hormones it can all go wrong, I've been caught that way before. We have discussed neutering but we worry about Freddie and Timmy's bond bringing females into the house, my partner doesn't want me to do it. The little angel is sound asleep in his bed at the moment completely oblivious to the problems he's caused.
It’s actually not too far, once I’ve exhausted all the options nearby I will be extending the searchIt's a shame you don't live closer to Dorset, my local Rescue lets you try single boars if you have a bereaved piggy.
Thank you, I will add them to the list of ones to contact. It's Mandy's Rescue a Guinea Pig - Dorset Not sure how far they will Rescue to. If they do let you adopt a piggie, you're most welcome to pop in.
