Pepper & Pringles Thread

After battling with Peppers weight for what feels like most of the year, pepper tipped the scales at 1187g this morning!
Pepper was around 1150-1170g (once hitting 1200g) before he had a very mild case of over grown teeth at the start of 2022 and then his URI in the summer, since then his weight has been very up and down, at his lowest he was 1052g. He has been on Metacam for 2 months now to help to reduce the scaring caused by this nasty URI, I had sort of resounded myself to the fact his new weight would be around 1125g but the last few weeks it’s been creeping up and up! I’m so happy hopefully this means he is on the mend, I need to find him a new exotic as ours has left so I will get him booked in to see if he is ready to come off his medication! 3E728797-A8A1-405D-943C-0F878803CE72.webp

Pepper also went to see his new vet this week, this practise has THREE vets that’s know guineapigs… you heard that right THREE!
She was very good with him and said his breathing is still harsh so it looks as though he will have some chronic scaring from his URI in the summer.

Pepper had a check up at the vets today, his breathing is sounding much better and he was 1.2kg for the vet which he was on Monday at weight in! We are going to try a nebuliser to see if we can wean him off the Metacam that he has been on daily for about 9 months after his URI.
He also needs to have a bath as he has some dry skin around his bottom, she checked under the microscope but couldn’t see anything crawling!
