Our piggies

I am so tired. Up early cooling us down, Hamish & Billy now give me a quick look& go back to bed.
Up late, cooling us down too. Today I will be having a siesta.
Here’s our two yesterday evening pretending they were NOT using the fresh frozen bottles I gave them. We were waiting for the big cold pads to re freeze for overnight, I think the fleece was cold were I had just removed them.

It's really stressful to try to keep indoors as cool as possible during the day and get as much cooler air as possible inside during the night.
I hope you will get cooler weather soon.

Oh dear, Billy went to the vet appointment intended for Hamish, Billy has been doing random squeaks when weeing periodically. So vet has prescribed pain relief and cystaid for a month too see if that helps. 🤞🏼
Billy helpfully produced a wee on the consulting table, which was gritty, but no blood.

Hamish is happily munching hay, oblivious to the missed outing!

Fingers crossed he feels better soon and it's just a bit of grit to be weed out!
My two oldies get this from time to time. The vet said it's because they have arthritis and they don't squat in the right position to wee so the calcium builds up in the bladder.

We had a family outing to our favourite vets this week.
Hamish had his 6monthly check up. Despite a decline in his weight he is all ok, and vet thought he was a healthy piggy, and is now classing him as an OAP. (He’s possibly 5yrs old we don’t really know.)Not sure what kind of pension he is expecting! Plenty of hay & Metacam already in this house. 🤣
Billy pig is still squeaking when toileting.
So he now has a small amount of Gabapentin on top of the metacam & cystease. At the moment the vet doesn’t believe he has a stone, but it’s highly likely he may develop one in the future. They had a very good feel, and we trust their judgment. We just have to monitor him for now.
It’s horrible listening to his ouchy squeaks.

What vet do you use? If Boris needs any special care in the future I'm prepared to go to c&r but if you know a good one closer.....
